Gilead trial

Starting a new Gilead IIb trial next week with 4 drug combo gs9451 protease, gs5885 NS5A, with the SOC drugs. Gilead dropped the Tegobuvir polymearse from this study. Anyone else on this one? Anyone know about these drugs and past successes?

Thank you very much for the information. I assume you had great results at 4 and 12 weeks and you are off the stuff. Best of luck for the next hurdle. I will get ready for the rash. I'm on different DAA's but thinking they all hand out the rash. Any tips for managing it early on. Thanks again.

I was in the same study as Mary4now but at a different location.  I am 4 weeks post treatment after 24 weeks.  I too was very happy with the care I received.  We were allowed Neupogen which my insurance would not pay for so we managed it with intermittent interferon reductions but no rescue for anemia in our study (procrit) which I did not need anyway.  You will receive a copy of the protocol when you start next week and your doctor or study nurse will explain what is allowed - take a list of questions with you.

I got through the 1st ten weeks with minimal side effects but then it all hit the fan.  Gilead approved for me to have aggressive treatment from a dermatologist for horrible rash that I had for weeks - by aggressive I mean steroid shot.  I had almost weekly blood draws to keep an eye on my ANC and other tests as needed.

Good luck - I am happy that I did the trial as hard as it was.  Of course, I don't know if I will hit SVR but I think that I am on my way.

Hi again,
You mentioned that sides were very well managed throughout. Did Gilead allow any rescue drugs? I had low RBC and WBC counts very early on, like week 2 on the SOC trial I was in 6 years ago and they reduced the interf/riba. My VL went back up and I had to stop at 12 weeks. My doc said he would not have reduced the meds if he were treating vs the study. That trail allowed no rescue drugs. I suppose I could ask my doc.  My fear is this will happen again and they will reduce the meds, however my doc says I will still get the full dose of the new addtional stuff and this combination might give me a chance of SVR. Again this is a 4 drug tx similar to the one you did....different drugs though. Thanks for the help.

Oh yes it is hopeful, I really like Gilead as a company as well.  I guess the focus is to get it down to 3 drugs w/o the interferon and to reduce treatment time to 3 months.  I really love my study center, and cant wait till the whole study is over so we can all get together and celebrate.  especially since we have something to celebrate and we got our appetites and sense of taste back,
good luck to you and keep posting. Mary

Congrats to you. Thank you for the information. I'm getting all the new stuff. This study looks to have different DAA meds. Gilead discontinued the tegobuvir from this study and placed everyone in one arm to include the drugs mentioned above. Things sound hopeful. Good luck to you.

Oh, needless to say I got all the study drugs, the provisions they made for people who did not respond well enough and were not on the study drugs was wonderful,  in the study I did,  you were allowed to retreat with the study drugs after not responding well at 12 weeks.
I dont know how your study is structured.
I was very happy with the care and the drugs.

Hi,
I have finished my trial, I am 3 months post,      I was treatment naive
I was geno 1, stage1, grade1, with 8 Million VL, I believe I was und at week 1 or 2 , stayed und during 24 weeks,  sides were very well managed throughout,  the doc asked me if I could take a couple weeks off work due to nausea, and anemia.  (threw up passed out in clinic)  sides starting showing around week 12,  you just take it day by day, like having the flu.
I was on Protease inhibitor, Polymerase Inhibitor, and SOC,  I was very happy with the way the study was handled and the support I received throughout,  they monitor these studies diligently.

good luck
