Got the shakes

I have read about most of my symptoms on this forum. However I have yet to read about the shakes. Tremors if you will. does any of you have the shakes?
My hands shake. Sometimes it makes it hard to do simple tasks like using a pencil or eating utinsels. It is very obvious & other folks can see it. Its embarassing. Please tell me of you experiences w/ this symptom.

I shook out of weakness (pretty bad) and possibly nerves throughout my treatment. Not before it and not too much afterwards after I regained some strength.

Well, I haven't yet had hand tremors, but my legs sometimes get very wobbly and weak and i can't walk up and downstairs and sometimes, if I'm standing too long I feel like i might collapse and I have to sit down.

And people notice that and look at me like I'm nuts when all of a sudden, out of the blue, I announce, "Oh, excuse me, I have to sit down for a minute."

I guess I don't LOOK sick and so healthy people can't at all relate to the sensation.

If I had to be around a lot of people right now and I had a visible hand tremor and I didn't want to explain it or feel embarrassed or cause someone else to be uncomfortable, I'd probably rehearse a couple of excuses in my head so if the situation arose I'd have a ready answer.

I've used that technique to avoid discussing my condition.

Yes I have hand tremors at times. I don't know if it's low blood sugar or tx, it's not all the time, but frequently. I was trying to use scissors today, and turned the job over to my daughter. Definitely impacts the fine motor skills!

I know what u mean about excuses. But ive found that coming up w/ excuses is tatamount to lieing. Many people KNOW when U R fibbing. I dont like folks to see my shakes, it is embarassing. But if they ask I tell them simply that I am taking some meds that causes it & they needn' t worry. If they ask further I tell them I would rather not discuss it at the moment. Now, I have answered their curiosity truthfully and put an end to the discussion about it.

Yes, I have experienced the hand tremors, but what really surprised me was when my hands cramped and my fingers locked in place.  This hurts and I would have to  work the cramping out.  My hands folded up and my fingers and thumbs locked together. This happened at the check out in a store.... My husband was with me and he took over..  What a look I got from the sales person. It still happens every now and then ,but not as often along with leg and feet cramping.  I had a mild case of Polio as a child.. I think this treatment effects your weak areas esp. This is why a lot of people are not candidates for treatment.  Those with emotional problems, for instance, are not good candidates because of the depression side effects... etc. etc.

It is a good point that patients make in this forum..." Not everyone is the same." {.. however, you find that there are symptoms that are pretty much common to all...perhaps not so severe to some or as long lasting... but they are there.} I think people with thyroid problems are often affected by the hand tremors .  I am on Levathroid and had Radioactive Iodine to destroy the thyroid years ago.  I blamed the tremors on this., and of couse Ribavirin... That is the real kicker... It is SO potent and just about anything can happen depending a lot on your weak areas.... evident before starting treatment.

I get very bad shakes aswell i aint had any treatment when i tell my doc he just says its valium withdrawals but even though they have cut me down i still take same amount so its not withdrawals i would like to know what causes it.Many thanks

Please make sure that your doctors are checking your electrolytes (potassium, calcium, etc) - especially if you are drinking a ton of water, as being depleted in these could be a cause for these symptoms.
