Great news today-my wife is negative!!!

I was recently diagnosed with Hep C , geno 2b.
As bad as that news is, what's worse is the waiting to find out if you've infected your family.
We've been on pins and needles for the last week or so.
Today, she finally got the news....negative.
Gotta admit, I broke down and cried.

As for me, I have a follow up with my doc in late April to go over when to begin treatment, etc.
He says I only have to do 26 weeks, because I have an "easier" genotype.
I hope that's true.

Thanks to everyone here, you've been a source of strength in coming to grips with this thing.
Now, I feel like I can get through this, no matter what.
I don't know HOW I'd deal with the guilt if she was positive...

Just sharing some good news.
Hope you all are doing well.

I can sooooooooooooo identify... When I got the DX --- we had already been in a bloody auto accident - daughter had cut head open and just daily life with kids... Hubby too... Great sex - sharing life --- Yanno? Just life... And the fact that my daughter had come out jaundiced looking like a pumpkin... LMAO! But I believe my transmission was from a rhogam shot during pregnancy.

Anyhow -- pins and needles and guilt...

But when they came through clean - it was like... Phew.... Such a relief.

It also left me wondering - because we had multiple situations where there DEFINITELY was blood everywhere --- if HCV is truly "THAT" contagious.

Hugs to you - and much luck.

I know the feeling well of being scared that you may have infected a loved one. What a relief it is to know that you have not.  Now you can concentrate on getting better yourself, yes you do have an easier geno type to treat so it will be alot easier to do without the added worry.  You still need to practice safe measures though... no sharing toothbrushes, razors, nail clippers ect..

Good luck to you on your journey through tx
