the ABB had to cancel dates at the Beacon in NYC because of gregg's tx side effects... but, he is supposedly undectable so thats cool...

i read an article on line the other day with keith richards he says he cleared without any tx at all... amazing immune system good for him if its true haha i think he is a bit of a story teller... wonder if he really did snort his dad??  lol

all of these famous musicians need to get together for a fund raising/awareness concert for hep-c or something... it would be a hell of a band lets see we have keith, gregg allman, steven tyler, david crosby, phil lesh, i know there are many many more...

Greg Allman too. I saw him in concert a few times. One of my old favorites. "Stormy Monday"  "Whipping Post"  "Hot Lanta"

I sure hope he's comes out a winner in this.

yea, i agree, oh wow him too??? but its not really surprising any of these guys coming out with having it, is it? .. all the drug use back then, seems like everyone in the music business had a habit in the '70's

im surprised havent heard anything about Clapton having it but maybe he is one of the lucky ones like keef

That's true that's a great great idea!  I know that Steven really wanted to work on awareness of the disease.............I guess writing him a nice letter might be a good idea and suggesting it.  Of course since I am suggesting this great idea I expect to be rewarded right?    :)

lol.  Wow, if all those rockers back in the day that were IV drug users and had hep, don't you think we would know it?  I sure was around many of them in my day....haven't kept track of what diseases they all came up with.....What a hell of a band with Gregg Allman, Crosby, Keith Richards and who knows?  Wouldn't it be great to hear from them on Hep C and it's repercussions?  Every politician these days talks about AIDS in their speeches (I go to many) but never do I hear about Hep C. Sure would be great!

Bringing back memories, 1st  saw Duane and Greg Allman play at City Park in New Orleans early 1970's or was it the late 60's, great concert.

people's minds if everyone knew which movie stars, rock stars, famous artists, etc etc etc had this...people like this really don't want people to know these things, not when it can affect their careers....not just because it's Hep C per se (which does have such a bad stigma) but they don't want people to think they are sick with anything, because the producer's etc figure they won't be able to do their jobs...it would be great if they outed themselves, but I doubt if most of them would...

but, there is strength in numbers, if they all came out at once how amazing would that be???  how could a movie director or agent or producer discriminate against everyone??  there would be no more concerts, no more tv shows, no more movies, etc etc etc

When average Americans look at a stage full of rockers from the 60's they think, among others things-- drugs.
A concert put on with old rockers for HCV would just further perpetuate the view that HCV is primarily a disease that affects only IV users.

The HCV community would be much better served if some like Donny Osmond had it rather than Allman.

Mike,  You are correct....I suppose we are on the wrong side?  But isn't that the norm with most of us? We have never been the norm of society, why would be following the rules of a forum now?  Yeah, now that I am over 50, I try to follow this edict, but I mess up now and then. So perhaps we should be on the "other side" of this forum, but if we do sort of cross over and are not in the proper space, should we not post?  I think most of us try and be good about this, but it isn't easy to discern which side sometimes.

You know I agree with you most of the time and wish to be the "good girl", but sometimes I am not. Sorry!  Love you anyway....you are an absolute mench and supportive to the max.  I will work on trying to steer these discussions to the "other side" . You know it is a slippery slope as to which side. As we know, many of us were against the separation of church and state, oops, I meant that separation of social and research based stufff about Hep c. Even HR goes to both. LOL  

Mr Liver;  I agree, but most of those ol' rockers have that stigma. I was around to many of them that did drugs and know that it was true. Who was to know that it was all bad?  We sure do now!  But, back in the day, who knew what evils were out there?
You are kinda saying that because people are gay, they were gay. People that did drugs got AIDS....perhaps this was true. Look at the demographics of AIDS and HepC now? Those innocent children and women in Africa get AIDS. Those of us that perhaps had hospital procedures got Hep C. Who knows?  As you know that "gay disease" is no more. That Hep C disease I am sure will also be no more.  

I agree, I wish someone like Donny Osmond represented us. As Forseegood says, many that are the Stars will not come forth.

Do you really think rock stars like Duane Allman, and Keith Richards care what people think of them?  I think a benefit for Hep C awareness including education therefore debunk the false information and show "the other side" transfusions, needle sticks, rape, one time drug user,,  surgeons, lawyers, nurses, bakers, indian chiefs.... anyway, we need better treatments... besides its a selective stigma, I'm beginning to see we have nothing to be ashamed of, just careful of and heppers are some of the nicest people I know.   Anywhoo still waiting to treat.    M4now

HCV is not confined to drug users (ie, Natalie Cole, Naomi Judd and, well, me for instance!).  Never used IV, never had a transfusion, never snorted, no tatoos.  

The problem with a fundraiser is that everyone THINKS it is confined to hard core rockers and tatoo'd drug users and say 'oh well, what did you expect from that lifestyle?'  To quick to judge those of us NOT in that category.
