Grim news

by troutman, Apr 21, 2002 12:00AM
This is the first time I have come to this forum and I hope I can find some comfort and support here because I,m very scared.I have been diagnosed with hep.c stage 4 fibrosis/cirrohis with a hep c viral count of 11 million copies, genotype 1a. My doctor is also concerned of Alpha Feta Protein levels at 200,as a high risk for heptacelluar carcinoma. He says my chances of response to interferon/ribavirn thepary is low because of my high virus level. he wants to see me again in July for follow-up bloodwork and MRI and then decide if treatment is worth trying.I have had a liver biopsy done to confirm the diagnosis with results of 2 of 4 staining(whatever that means). I am classed as (childs scale-A-5points). He specializes in Liver Transplantation at a very reputable Hospital.I just feel that my chances are grim and I am very scared because of my high viral load. Does anyone feel that I have a chance for response with my diagnosis? Thanks for listening
