HAs anyone tried acupunture post or during tx?

by brown_eyed_grl, May 04, 2007 12:00AM
I've been doing it weekly now for the past six weeks and I do feel better. My acupunturist is working on strengthing my organs and my immune system, so HOPEFULLY the sides wont be so bad. I can say I already feel more relaxed and less anxious, but the proof will be in the pudding. I plan to do it weekly during tx. Just wondering if anyone had gone this route.

I tried it when I first started TX. It really felt great for about 3 hours and then all the regular sides came back. Plus I really couldn't afford it. $60. to $80 dollars a session unfortunately was not in my budget. It's
great that you can go each week.
I wish I knew how to do it myself I would use it everyday twice a day.
Let us know how you are feeling later on and if you decided to stay with it. Maybe you could keep a diary of your SX while on TX and also on acupuncture. I have never read anyones' experience using it for SX and immune system support.

Hi, I've been doing it on and off for years, I love it though one time I kinda felt dizzy (just one time in years of doing it) and the practitioner told me that it can lower your blood pressure a few points at times - and maybe mine was already a little low that day (sometimes it can be, my dad has low pb too)...other then that, wonderful....think it's a good idea that you keep a diary, if you can remember! ha! you must be a Van Morrison fan huh? hope youre well...

Hi all, I did acupuncture right through Tx,once a week full body job and it helped me a great deal.It was the major thing that got me through. ( I was lucky to get it free on the NHS)

How did you know I love that song? LOL

I get the accupunture for free b/c I do a trade w/her so it works out perfectly!! I will keep a diary and see how it goes.

Citizen, I am interested in you experience w/the AP during tx. How were your sides? What was the main difference you noticed? Were you able to sleep well? Were you less fatigued and able to manage your day in a more "normal" fashion. Did you work etc....I would assume if your immune system is strengthened, then your total experience would be much easier.

Thanks everyone for replying. I am hoping it will help. I will keep a diary and post my experiences on a weekly basis. This should be very helpful for everyone. I know insurance covers part of it.

My nurse suggested acupuncture to me. I've just gotten so needle phobic from tx and and the extra neup. shots. I do wish my accupressurist was still around. I think anything that helps you to relax and/or release toxins would be beneficial. Good luck and let us know how it works for you.

I always feel better after I get my acupuncture treatments. The insurance will only cover it for pain and nausea - so I tell them I have lots of pain and nausea.
Naomi Judd had it also and that was 19 years ago before Ribavirin.
