by samira77, May 27, 2009 12:54AM
In 2006 HCV antibody Test = 2.39
Cutoff =1.0
But PCR of HCV = Negative
In May 2009 HCV antibody = borderline
Cutoff = 1.0
But PCR of HCV = Negative

Is the current condition requires any treatment now and in future? I am planning to go abroad, is this condition in any way will affect in my medical tests results.

This discussion is related to Anitbody test positive and RNA test is -ve.

looks like you were exposed to hepatitis C at some point but your immune system fought it off. you now have the antibodies for life and will show up in blood tests. This should not affect your travel but I would keep that negative PCR handy just in case. You do NOT have HCV just the antibodies.

Two neg Pcr results are almost 100% proof you do not have hep c virus.

A screening test score of less than three could be a false pos.

Ask for the Riba test.  This is VERY specific for hep c antibody.  Neg

Riba means the reactive screening test was false pos.
