HCV from touching potentialy contaminated surfaces

I am medical student and I am very worried of blod borne disseases. One week later I touched door knob on surgery room in hospital and then scrathed bleading rash on my head with fingernails. Thean I was worried what if medical personel touched this particular doorknob with blod contaminated gloves and some virus ( Hepatitis C) coud get on my hands too. One part of me says that this is clearly paranoid and irational and another one is anxious. Do I hve to test or it is OK?

Sorry for english?

It IS irrational thinking.

You need to find some help to beat this kind of anxiety, if you want to continue going into this profession. If not you will drive yourself insane.

Wishing you all the best,

Marcia

I wasn´t anxious like this before. Two years ago I had HCV test for blood bank whitch was false positive. I waited 3 wery long weeks to get negative PCR result. This experience with false positive test is source of my anxiety. But I know I must move on and live.

I am very curious about why posts about catching HCV from unlikely sources come in groups.

How can it be that a medial student can't know the answer to this or get it from one of the many doctors they are exposed to an a daily basis?

Literature says nothing about this type of exposure and som the doctors. Most certain because that is not an exposure at all, rihgt? I just wanted opinion of someone with cler mind.

I looked at your previous posts, and it sounds to me like you are in need of psychological help. Your anxiety is irrational. It interferes with your life. You definitely can not continue in your profession if you don't get it under control. You will be exposed to sick people all the time. And many patients will be potentially contagious.

You as a future doctor should know that anxiety is easily controlled with medication. Your average person, who would go through "hepatitis scare" that you had, would just breathe a sigh of relief and continue on happily. But you dwell on this experience, you can not let go, and I see that new anxieties come on board. You mental state is very fragile. There is no shame in this. We are all different, some stronger than others. Please, ask for help. Our world is the endless source of anxious feelings. You need to control them, or your life will become a torture, and you will be unable to function.
