HCV

I first time came to know about HCV in 2005. at that time my virul load was 140,000 in PCR Quanittative Test. Then in 2008, it reached 274,415. With it, my ALT was 59. Then I started treatment and uptill now I have got 26 injections injected into my body. The  course is comprised of 72 injections. My genotype is 3a. Now in my latest LFT test, my ALT is 22. All other indicators have also become normal. What do you think about the progress of my improvement? is it becoming better?

Your ALT shows tx is effecting better. Get test PCR Qualitative after 12 weeks.

The thing which precisely tell you abt your progress so far is current HCV PCR. You have told that you have got 26 injections so far , means its almost 9 weeks of tx ( correct me if i am wrong coz i am assuming that you are on standard intereferone which is three injections in a week). Ideally one should be tested for PCR after 4 weeks of tx but as its very expensive test so normally doctors do avoid it in subcontinent but do remember PCR test at week 12 is MUST, i repeat its MUST coz it will tell the effects of medicine on HCV. Ideally your PCR should be un-detected at week 12.

your beginning VL is quite low that indicate a better chance of SVR ( elimination of HCV from body)

Would you like to tell from where you are and what is the brand name of interferone you are using. Whats the quantity of Riba you are taking daily ( i use to have 1200mg daily i.e, one 600mg tab in morning and one 600mg tab in evening)
