HELP PLEASE! I took an extra ribavirin pill.

Hi all,

I take 5 ribavirin pills a day and by accident I took 6 today. I dont know if I should decrease my dosage to 4 pills tomorrow or continue as normal. Will this extra pill harm me? Is it a big deal, should I be worried? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Relax,some people take 7 pills a day everyday,an extra pill will help you out.

Relax. There's nothing to worry about concerning the extra riba pill.
I would go ahead and resume normal dosing tomorrow. The extra dose won't harm you. Best of luck.

S2B - we've all gotten confused on our doses once or twice I would suspect.  One extra on one day isn't going to do damage.  You might want to check into those pill boxes that have the days of the week on them.  That way you can put out a week's worth of medication at a time and you'll know by looking at the box if you've taken it yet or not.

At one point, I was prescribed 10 ribavirin daily, and on occasion took 15. As with the others, I’d recommend resuming normal dosing in the morning. Also, Alagir suggested a pill box; these are invaluable.

I think we've all done it by accident, so please don't worry! As alagirl suggests the pill boxes are excellent for keeping a track of your meds, just make sure you fill it up at the same time each week.  I used to sync mine up with my shot, ie after my shot (on Fridays) I took the last riba left in the Friday pm box.  Then I would refill on Saturday morning.  I had 2 small boxes one for am and one for pm.  Worked great for me as I was also taking other meds in the morning...

Thank You soooo much for your help and prompt responses! ooo what a relief! I dont think I slept a minute last night worrying I messed up my whole treatment. U guys are the best! I'm going to start using the pill boxes so i avoid doing this again.

If you dont use pill boxes you will do this again,over and over.
