My husband has He C his viral load is 11 000 and his liver has fibrosis Stage 0, it means very slight fibrosis, as all these drugs are so very harmful, what would you advice shall we take the treatment at all, or maybe we will just take drugs that I good for liver and thus keep the liver in good shape and let alone the virus????
Bill1954 and FlGuy,
Thanks a lot for your help I appreciate,
as you know so much
To make your evaluation a little less complicated here is something to keep in mind. When it comes to pegylated interferon there are two kinds; Pegasys (alpha2A) and PegIntron (alpha 2B). They are made by two difference manufacturers (Roche and Schering). As for the Copegus, Rebetol, Ribabvirin; it's all the same and they are bio-equivalents of ribavirin and there is no difference. So, the only difference is the Peg (Pegasys and PegIntron) and those two have more similatities than differences.
Here is a webpage with many links to the IDEAL study; this was sponsored by Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals to evaluate the differences between the two drugs. Not an easy task, as the results show.
The official party line indicates there is very little difference between the two drugs in treatment outcomes, but there has been discussion about the study design that might be less than ideal :o).
