HEP C WITH LESIONS DETECTED IN MRI

My dad was diagnosed with hepatitis C about 15 years ago. He has had it for about 25 years. He recently received news the lesions were found on his liver during an MRI scan. The doctor he sees for his hep C referred my dad to a hospital in Omaha so they would be able to get an accurate biopsy. I know it could be numerous things but I really want to know what it could be. What are the possibilities?? please help me.

The most common lesions found on the liver by CT scans are benign hemangiomas. They usually do a MRI after to get a better idea what it is. The MRI gives a better idea on severity. What is puzzling here is yor dads was found during an MRI so they should be able to tell you exactly what it is. You mention biopsy, proceed with caution if they are going to biopsy a lesion! If it is bad and a tumor there have been studies that if they biopsy a liver tumor it can spred through the body. I would get your dad seen by a Hepatologist (liver specialist) at a teaching hospital. Wishing him the best
