HEP C treatments

What type of HEP C treatment is out there now for post tranplants.
I have been on every kind of interferon there is and I am a non responder.
My last treatment was 5 years ago with peg/rib before transplant.

The same as for patients who have not needed a transplant.
How is your new liver doing?
If your ALT and AST are normal that is a vey good sign.
New enhanced treatments will be availible in about eighteen months or so.
Donated livers tend to succumb to Hep C more rapidly than the original so you will want to treat in due course.

Thanks for responding, I just thought there might be something different out there by now.
My AST/ALT fluctuates between the 60's and low 70's so I'm not too concerned right now about that even still I would like to be HEP C free, but my kidney levels are increasing from the med. I just posted a question concerning this to the community
.......GOD BLESS!!.........Dan

"New enhanced treatments will be availible in about eighteen months or so."

Wow, that was specific. Do you have a link that supports this?

Yes-there is a wealth of information.
Simply google 'telaprevir'
It is in it's final phase 3 trials right now.
It is taken in addition to interferon and ribavirin.
Previous trials have demonstrated that raises the success rate for geno 1 patients from an aggregate 46% to 65% or better.

"Simply google 'telaprevir'"
Been there, done that. Saw no specifics about release date. What I saw was that several trials would not be concluded until 2010.

So I ask again: "Wow, that was specific. Do you have a link that supports this?"

O.K I get it now-you are a cynic looking for an argument.
What's the problem-don't want to believe that a better and shorter regime than you had will be available for others?
Want to bet?

Thank you for finally supplying a link. No, I was not looking for an argument. I was just interested in what link led you to say such a specific time period as 18 months, since I unsuccesfully spent some time a couple of days ago trying to find more specific information on a release date. I also believe that "a better and shorter regime than I had will be available for others" and am very grateful for this. The question is just when.

I must however say that every contact I have had so far with you has been unpleasant.

Quote from your link above for those interested:
"... Plan A continues to be completion of a pivotal trial of the drug, telaprevir, in hepatitis C patients not previously treated, with data expected in the first half of 2010. If positive, Vertex would then file for regulatory approval in the second half of 2010."

If you had followed the emerging data on protease inhibitors diligently you would know that telaprevir in particular is now concerned with trialing the drug with and without a lead in period.
The principal efficacy and safety of the compound has enabled it to reach this very advanced stage of development and all authoritative sources have a reasonable expectation of it being licensed perhaps in 2010.
I have never sought to communicate with you in any way whatsoever although I have noticed you making apperently emotional responses to others.
I  suspect you have only instigated this futile dialogue because you thought you could score a point.
I don't post on this site in order to network or for support but simply to answer questions from those who require basic information.
I am sorry if this does not suit you.

I did just that. I only asked for a link. Why are you jumping me?

If I'm wrong for posting, I'm wrong.I feel like I need to.Don't argue.Life is to short. My point of view is you have had a misunderstanding.I have seen you both post very smart data and have helped so many.
HCA- You do help ALOT of people !
zazza-You helped me so much.I had enough info to talk my Dr. into tx me with higher doses of peg.
I appreciate both of you and would love to see this thread end.
Let's ALL stay civil to one another and enjoy the fact that we have a nice forum.
It won't be as nice if one of you get mad and leave.
