HGB drop shows tx response?

HGB drop shows tx response?

Always something new to learn.  I pulled my labs, started with 14 HGB and have been at about 11 since starting tx.  Is that the sort of drop that shows the meds are being metabolized? My doc said no procrit unless I drop below 10.  I'm been glad not to need procrit, already on neupogin.  My 12 th wk and wigging out a bit with worry.  Last viral load was 4800 at 8 wks, started at 1,700,000.  Must be undect at 12 weeks or tx is over, per my doc.

its a perfect drop just where you want it., looks like your heading for a und result by wk 12 too so dont worry

there is some evidence that point to those going anemic early on have a good chance of svr.  11 is a good number, mine got to 8.5 and never did any resuce meds.

your viral load drop by week 8 was 2.5, that is really good.  you should have a good chance of being und at week 12.  getting there by week 4 is better, but hang in there.  what genotype are you.

The worst, geno1a.  Currently fuming that my doc didn't offer a PI trial study as an option.  I charged into this without doing my homework.  I knew nothing compared to what I know now after 12 weeks.

Your doc's take on the procrit is consistent with what I have discovered. Hgb = 10 was the trigger point for my doc also.

I think the Hgb drop shows that the Ribavirin is getting into your blood, but I don't think it says anything about your immune system response or effectiveness against the virus.

Hang in there. Low Hgb can really be a drag. Take everything as slow and easy as you can. Save energy for the things most important, and good luck to you!

With a vl of 4800 (2.5 Logdrop) in 8 weeks, I think odds look pretty good for clearance by 12 weeks. Here's hoping you will!
