Hair loss

I am on 7th wk of tx and have not had any significant (no more than usual) hair loss. How far into tx does this begin to occur? What % of hair loss is expected?

LOL...Hard to tell with me......JK......LOL
I really haven't experienced much hair loss...But it definately got way thinner and brittle....And I''m 30/48 today....But I'm sure that all depends on your metabolism and immune system and how your body is reacting to tx.

Hi How ae yo feeling?
From what I have read over the past years is some people experience hair loss (alot) and others have no hair loss. Some speople very little. We are all different.
No definitive answer on that .......

If I remember right in a post I read in the 13th to the 15th wk. to expect hair loss.  I have even heard that hair loss started at last shot.  Some more than others.  It has already started with me.  In my 9th week.  My hair is so brittle.
I try not to pull on my hair as much as possible.  I've always had long hair.
I donated 16" 2 years ago to the children.  It took me 2 years to grow it to the middle of my back again and now it's comming out more than ever day by day.
Oh well, my husband say's he'll just have to cut his shorter.  He already has a buzz.  Funny, Big guy!  Time for me to prepare for the scarfs.

Praise God....And now they think that the Sentinal node they took a pic of is a FALSE POSITIVE.........So Praise God I'm believing it.....

It didn't start to REALLY fall out until after a few months - I think it was about 3 or 4 months in or so. But at about 8 - 10 months yowza that wasn't a problem anymore cause I lost about 75% - I just thinned out so fast and so much, at first I didn't notice but after a while with it falling out and cracking off at the bottoms it was like HOLY COW! Wasn't much left to lose.

Then I went out and got some wigs and kept myself sane. It helped so much I can't tell you.

Mine started about week 12 and now at week 30 its about 40-50% gone.
I cut 13" and donated it before I lost a lot. Its pretty thin around the hair line and mine was very thick and long before.

regding wigs
There are so many to choose from on e-bay. Did you get human hair...european or asian??? Do u recommend a particualr seller? It's pretty hard to tell if they will look somewhat natural...lookin' at the pics. Any advice?

I was afraid to buy a wig on e-bay without trying it on.  I went to a neighborhood wig shop and got one for $129.  I'm glad I did this, because I didn't realize wigs come in sizes, and I wear a petite size.  Never having owned a wig, I didn't know this.  But if I have occasion to buy another one, then definitely e-bay, 'cause wigs like mine are half the price there.

I'm on week 22. My hair has always been thick and dry. It has thinned and became like the Sahara. I take omega 3 fish oil. I started using jojoba oil on my hair when I realised some of my hair was so dry it was breaking off. If you didn't already know me, you'd have no idea I'd lost any.
For the first time in my life I can wear a bun with a chopstick in it. I wonder how many people I'll maim?

I started slowly losing it around week 12, (my hair and my mind) and it is still falling out. I've been off tx 6 weeks and my hair is still falling out.Probably if I had a better diet or took supplements it wouldn't fall out so much. I'm just lazy.

I started losing my hair just before TX when I started Wellbutrin. I quit that anti-depressant and started Effexor instead, much better for the SX. Then around the 3rd month it really started thinning out, mostly on the top, not that much on the sides. It sort-of looked like a dolls head, you could see my scalp a little thru the hair. Scarfs, hats, do-rags, wigs, whatever looks the best on you use it.

After I stopped TX, my hair started to grow back right away. Nine months after TX and WOW is my hair THICK. It's NEVER been this thick before, ever! It's super thick and shiny and curly.

I made my own batch of 100% Aloe Vera gel about two-thirds, Jojoba Oil about one quarter, and just about half a teaspoon maybe not even of 100% Tea Tree Oil (it smells like turpentine). All can be found at Trader Joes or Whole Foods or a good health food store. Find a plastic bottle with a screw top that has a long pointed nozzle on it and squeeze on your scalp after washing your hair... leave on over night. I got a terrycloth turban and covered my pillows with towels as well. Then wash out the next day. It will keep your scalp in good condition. Another trick is to get a silk pillow case so as not to pull more hair out during your sleep. And try not to use combs or brushes on your hair, just cut it short squeeze some aloe vera gel on it,run your fingers through it and go. I cut my hair really short in a pixie cut during the TX. I thought what the ****, I'm going to lose it anyway, just go with it. It looks really cute. Don't try any comb-overs or anything that looks remotely like Donald Trump @:{   Hair spray BAD,Jojoba Oil GOOOD!
Good Luck!

I started losing hair about 2-3 months into treatment.  I guess I lost about half of my hair.  Not to worry tho.  It grows back super soft!
