Has anyone completed the Boceprevir trial who did NOT have the metallic taste problem?

Has anyone completed the Boceprevir trial who did NOT have the metallic taste problem?  My husband is in the new Boceprevir vs. placebo trial.  He's worried that he's getting the placebo, because he doesn't have a bad/metallic taste in his mouth.  If there are some of you who've finished the first Boceprevir trial (where you know you got the drug) and didn't get the bad/metallic taste, then maybe he has the drug and not the placebo after all.

yes  always have had the taiste from the first time I took bocep and have had to regulate the dose. seems to never go away will never know what good it did me anyways since I went undectable at week 4 to 6 from 7,000,000 units viral load BEFORE I took the bocep and I can't imagine what it was like to have normal taiste buds. At week 14 and struggling but no virus now for 2 + months

I had the taste really bad with the first 2 doses, but only occasionally after that (been on it 2 weeks). Rockerforlife had a brilliant suggestion to open and taste the pill.  I am wondering more about managing the GI symptoms.  I know it has to do with what you eat with the dose, but got no instructions from docs.  Anybody know what works?

My husband just called the study coordinator, and she says out of 15 people in that specialist's office who have been on boceprevir (with NO placebo group), only 3 had a bad taste.  Great news.  So it seems most people on the real thing do not have the taste problem.  Only a few do.  What a relief.  And, yeah, exactly like you said: You Never Know.  Thanks for your encouragement!

I just started this trial so I haven't got the chance to try it yet. I have to wait another 2 weeks before I get the Boceprevir. Rockerforlife is a few weeks ahead of me in this trial.

Thanks for responding!  And, thanks to your suggestion, yes, we did.  And it was awful!!!  But it sounds like you and the others with this problem didn't have to do that to taste it, or to have an ongoing problem with food tasting bad.  Do you guys swallow them alone?  My husband (Don) swallows them with food or water.  I wonder if that's why he's hasn't had the bad taste before... He's going to start responding to you himself now (yeah! having these forums is great).
