Has anyone had thyroid problems after or during txt.

Hey everyone, has anyone had thyroid trouble before or after txt. Mine seems to have went nuts. They just increased my meds for thyroid again. And as everyone who knows me on this board knows, I have been waiting on sister to be tested for match for a kidney transplant. Don't think it's going to happen, first she wanted to wait till Dec. now she wants to wait till April, I understand being scared. I've been off txt since Sept. and I'm scared everyday but how do you make people understand enough to give you your life back. I'm undetectable have been since Feb. Thanks Linda

I have hypothyroid, about 13 years now. TX has not affected it so far, but I heard in can. Keep an eye on that!

At week 40 or so I developed HYPERthyroid problems big time my TSH was zero.

By the time I made the appt. with an Endo Doc to have the nuclear imaging scan done - it had completely and totally flip flopped and it turned out I was not extremely HYPO thyroid.

So they started me on Synthroid and I've been fine. I take the pill every night and I am at 2 now which is normal.

If you have hyper problems - they are considered worse and there is a bigger chance that you will need to have the thyroid nuked and removed. It's more dangerous and really needs to be taken care of.

Thank God the doctors do monitor this for us or I would not have known. Although if I had lost more weight something would have been very obvious - I had thought it was from the meds at first.

I am on week 40/72 and 4 weeks ago asked dr if he could check my tsh levels early...losing hair very fatigued etc.  called me back and level off the chart..started on synthroid and reading went to 74...in hospital with pnemonia (pneumonia) and level dropped to 42, last work done last week and tsh only down to 39. so increased synthroid again and blood work in 2 weeks to check level. it is par for the course with tx for some and sometimes will straighten out after tx, but mostly will have for the rest of life. i know it takes awhile to get the right amount of med to treat in system..hang in there :) shelly

I was on Synthroid for Hashimotos long before starting tx. During my second year on tx I had to up the dosage 5 times.
Post tx I had to lower the Synthroid 4 times. I am now 10 month post tx, and almost back to the dosage I started out with. My thyroid finally seems to have stabilized.
