Have A Meeting For Clinical Trials

Hi All,

After hearing my odds for success with Telaprevir as a Genotype 1a, non responders with stage 3 fibrosis and an il28b of T/T are about 30%, I made an appt with Dr. Fred Poordad of Cedars Sinai to find out about some of the research and clinical trials that he is doing.  I have never met with anyone regarding trials.  What are the types of questions to ask?  Also, does anyone out there know anything about Dr. Poordad - the information on him sounds pretty good but I don't know anyone who has actually met with him.  My appointment is Monday - keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for your support and assistance.

Hi.

I have read many articles and papers by Dr. Poordad about HCV, liver disease, transplantation that be has written in leading medical journals. He is also involved with the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, the American Society of Transplantation, and the American College of Gastroenterology.

He is a mover and shaker. One of the top in his field. He is experienced in all of the latest developments with HCV, new DAA treatments, liver disease, liver transplantation. You are very lucky to have such a knowledge doctor to advise you on the best treatment for your status of Stage 3 and a non-responder. I am very interested in what he has to say and other here in similar situations I think will find it very valuable also.

Best of luck. Keep us informed as to what happens.

agreed, Poordad is one of the leading names in the field. What was your level of non-response (eg what log  drop at w4,w12?) In addition to quad-tx trials, some questions that might be worth asking about:
- diagnosis of causes contributing to nr : (IR, weight, iron)
- options for improving  ifn response ( high-dose rbv, SAMe clinical trials (see pubmed refs on my 'libo/limbo' journal entry),  alinia/ntz?)
- any likelihood of movement on the FDA's DAVP initiative on early access to multiple DAAs?
