Having a tough time here......

Boy..., this headache (migraine) is back with a vengeance!  I was thinking about the Ativan 2.mg that I'm on which is the strongest they make, and I ran out day before yesterday (obviously because I was probably taking more than I was supposed to (I'm not going to lie about that; I do get them re-filled on Monday), but I could very well be experiencing withdrawals from the Ativan too!  Boy, what did I get myself into?  I have plenty of Vicoprophen left which from an addict perspective you would think I would be more addicted to them than the Ativan, you know?  Anyways, I just wanted to share where I was at this morning because I know I'm not the only addict here and I know you guys would understand before most.  Anyways, I ate a fatty breakfast and just took my morning dose of Riba.  Next Friday I will find out if all of this TX stuff is working for me.  He wants to see my 14 million viral load to have dropped to 10 million or less.  Fingers crossed!  I wish I could sleep, but am experiencing the sleeplessness again as well.  I know I just sound like a mess, but darn it this stuff doesn't make you feel like Mr. GQ either and you guys know that so I won't bother trying to explain myself.  Perhaps I should ween myself off of the Ativan slowly?  They work so well for me though in that I can be semi-relaxed thru this TX.  That was the idea, along with helping with the anxiety attacks which it's brilliant for.  I'm rambling, have a good day everyone.  HUGZ!

I have had migraines since age 14. I have two types, cluster and common. the clusters wake me up and I want to bang my head on the wall. The other kind, I use ice the first day and then a heating pad, with a nice hot wet wash rag in it. Sometimes sitting in the hot tub with ice cubes in your palms helps (not kidding!)  I get them more that twice a day too, so I can't take imitrex, although it is a miracle drug!  You can only do imitrex a few times a week. I take fiornal/codiene. Yeah, I am most likely addicted, but I take two several times in the middle of the night when the headaches wake me and in the morning. Nothing else works for me. Morphine only helps injected for an hour and a half. Vicodin never works. So those are the thoughts from a migraine sufferer. Sounds like you got you have a doozy. I got them a lot on tx. Head massages help along with the neck...

Yep, the migraines suck! I get 2-3 day ones on tx! I don't take/like drugs much, but on those days...would've let them give me morphine, lol! And the vicoprofen barely touched them at all, nothing did! The ice pack does help and I'd push so much on the pressure points that they'd be sore days later!
As a recovering addict tho, you should ask the Dr. what CAN you take that is not risky for you.  Vicoprofen may not be a good idea. (not sure what ativan is??)

Sorry, hope you feel better!!

The possibility of headaches was the one thing that really had me worried about starting treatment. I'm going into week 3 tomorrow. I talked to my doc about it because I already get really bad headaches and explained to him that I absolutely cannot function when I have a bad headache. I've never actually gone on migraine medicine cause I always think I can just tough it out and take over the counter stuff and sleep but for this I decided to see what he usually orders. He ordered Imitrex for me. I haven't tried it yet but I feel better just knowing I have some around. Problem is that you have to take it at the start of a headache and I know that I'd probably wait too long to see if it would go away. But at least I have it just in case. So maybe your doc can order something specifically for migraines. My daughter takes migraine meds and says it's made a huge difference in the headaches. That is acts differently than the usual things like Advil, etc. Anyway, just a thought. Good luck. Oh, and I use an ice bag too. And way dark rooms with no noise.

I’m sorry you’ve been having such a rough time. How is your water intake? I haven’t tx yet, still at the wait and wait and wait point, but if these tx brings on flu like symptoms you want to stay hydrated. I mean to the point that you feel you may float away. I’m trying to remember the equation, I think you take your weight divide it by 2 and that’s how many ounces you should drink in a day. I hope this gets better for you, stay strong.

So sorry that your migraine is back.  Fortunately I have never experienced one.  It seems more common now though; what I mean is your not the only one with the migraine.

Be strong as this too will pass.

Peace and Love,
Trish
