Headaches? and Other Posts

Hi all! I seem to have developed chronic headaches. I'm not sure what the cause is - maybe the meds, maybe stress, but my Doc gave me inderal for them. Has anyone here taken a beta blocker for headaches? What are the side effects? I'm worried that a drop in blood pressure would cause me to feel even more fatigue... I also don't like the permanancy of this stuff. Any input would be appreciated and please post other questions!

recently, a woman posted her story and mentioned having 0 damage in 1998. 5 yrs later she was at cirrhosis, just that possibility would scare me into having another one, think about it?

The Rebatron Tx can cause headaches. I had a dull one all throughout my 48 week Tx.

BTW. The Rebatron Tx causes hypotension(low blood pressure) no Hypertension (high blood pressure). I would look elsewhere for the cause if you have the latter.

I'm not planning on doing tx again any time soon. The odds for relapsers just aren't that great.
My liver was still pretty good when I had my biopsy in 2,000. They didn't give me a stage/grade rating, but it was a 3 out of 22 on the Knodell scale. I just wanted to give tx a try cause I was noticing changes in my energy levels. My doc wasn't all that enthusiastic about it, he said I could wait for something better, so I guess that's what I'll do now. Unless I start to go downhill drastically, that is.

He wants me to do another biopsy next year, but I can't see the point. Too much money, even with good insurance.

Work situation hasn't been so great. I can't work the kind of hours they require in Prudhoe Bay anymore, and town work is pretty spotty, to say the least.

Great to hear about all of you that managed to get to SVR, maybe I'll join y'all one of these days. I still lurk pretty regularly, just let the experts here give the advice.

My Dr. prescrible Stadol nasal spray and it worked fast and well. It is a narcotic so is not for everone, but it's such a minute amount, that it doesn't hurt your liver.  Joni

I also used Zomig a lot during tx. I still use it now but not nearly as frequently. It really does help with migraines.

I have had headaches throughout my life, like every one does. But during weeks 09-18 I was getting migraines so intense I could not get out of bed.
My PCP had a standing order for 15mg of morphine, but I couldn't get to the office to receive the injection of morphine. The migraines would last for days.
I told my Dr that the standing order for the morphine shot, did not help, if I could not handle getting to Kaiser to get the shot
She prescribe a triple action migraine medication. Which worked wonders. If the meds your Dr gave you don't help, ask him/her about Midrin.
The link below has lots of information about it.
I have not had a migraine since I started using this med, it heads off the migraine early.

P.S.  I didn't have any side effects from the Toprol, although, the Dr. said it would make me sleepy.  I was already fatigued from being anemic during treatment, so I guess I didn't notice that as a side effect.

I had the same thing with headaches early in treatment.  It turned out to be high blood pressure caused by a combination of the antidepressant Effexor and the Interferon and Ribaviron.
My G.P. put me on Toprol which is a beta blocker and it worked wonders.  No more pounding in my head while trying to sleep and no more headaches.  I'm not on it any more, though, since TX is over for me.  I also stopped the Effexor following completion of treatment.  I just had my 6 month PCR and it was clear!!!
Now I don't have to think about it until next November when I have the final PCR.
Take care!!

I feel your pain!  Literally!  Right now.   Nothing like waking up with a bad one, day after day... for 8 days now.  I've had no experience with Inderal, and the other migraine meds have just completely knocked me out and sent me drooling to the couch,  so I resort--after hours of holding out until I can't stand it anymore--to tylenol w/ codeine and a wee bit of cannabis via a vaporizer.   The two of them together work beautifully.  (Codeine alone doesn't do it.)   Until tx, I had no idea that the the claims about medical marijuana for alleviating chemo-related headaches and nausea were so accurate.  The cannabis works instantly, praise de goddess.
But whatever you do, I  sure hope you find relief.   Living with chronic headache is a real bear.

Are you drinking any coffee or cola drinks with caffeine? They give me terrible headaches, I'm talking 5 days at a time. :-((
