Headaches on TX and off.

Headaches on TX and off.

One of the symptoms I suffered before TX were headaches.  My doctor claims that headaches are not generally associated with HepC.  Since beginning TX the headaches have gotten worse and last 24 hours per day.  Anyone out there suffer headaches before TX? How about after? Any non narcotic remedies? Thanks. Travis

Hey, Yes, I've been getting headaches for several years. I am on the verge of starting treatment and one of my major concerns is the headaches. If tx induces the ones I have I will not be able to treat. For me Imitrex is a God send!! I cut the 100mg tabs in 1/4s and it flat out works. I can pretty much tell I have a headache coming on 5-8 hours before it is full blown. I take the pill when I am in NO doubt one is starting. If I wait untill the pain is already building i still only take 25mg and it takes 2 hours to take affect. Sometimes I have to take an additional 25mg. The imitrex is expensive, $235 for 9 tabs. jm

The only time I had a headache on tx was when I didn't drink enough water before and after my shot.
The headache lasted all night. It was bad. Drink plenty of water.

I've gotten headaches very frequently on treatment. My doctor has said I can take up to 2 gm of Tylenol daily if necessary, but I rarely take more than one or two extra strength tabs. Your situation may vary, so follow your doctor's advice on any medications.

Grandma is right about the importance of drinking lots of water. It helps many of the symptoms of treatment, including headaches.

my headaches are terrible. I take lots of pills to make them manageable.

I'm wondering if a predisposition to headaches/migraines might not be exacerbated by Hep C, and -- i'm beginning to suspect -- the treatment!  I was praying that my constant headaches and frequent migraines might be cleared up or at least lessened by the trx, but have come to find that it's the opposite.  I had found right before trx that the use of ionic (or colloidal) magnesium helped enormously with them, but have found that it no longer seems to make much difference, post-trx. I'm not yet quite 6 months post-trx yet, so i'm still hopeful that as the body continues to detox, thing will improve (please, please, please).  I've been taking migraine meds for many many years, and Zomig is the only one that really works for me, but they too are outrageously expensive.  I was addicted to Excedrin for many years (3 tabs every 3 hours) and had to be hospitalized to be taken off them, only to be given all kinds of preventative meds that didn't work.  Thank goodness for the invention of triptans!

And...i agree...what the heck is that completely inappropriate posting from mo77us?  Not that i'm going to investigate either...

Would appreciate any other info anyone has on headache/migraine mgmt with hcv.
Thanks.
