Health Insurance Coverage post tx ???

by Tosser, Aug 08, 2004 12:00AM
Hi folks!

Anybody had any luck getting a new health insurance policy instated after tx? I'm self employed and can't find answers to whether having had Hep-C will make me non-insurable or not.

I also have a term life insurance policy that will mature within a couple of years and don't know if they will renew it based on my history of liver disease.

Any links to info or personal feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hi there, congrats on being SVR...:)  The insurance question must be on all of our minds at one point or another.  I'll be interested in reading the responses.  Best of luck to you.

No problems getting insurance. I explained that the virus was eradicated.

I have a question regarding the sun, and tx..I know that many have gotten burned, or rash from sun exposure, but I still have a question.. I have seen where they state that the Riba makes you photosensitive.. Does it actually increase sx's, or just the chances of getting burned.. I live in Miami, and it is HOT, to say the least.. Would like to hear what others have read, or first hand experience.. Thanks..

Yeah I have also found out that heat makes me break out sometimes more in rash and if I'm out to long in it,,,I do get headachy also.  I still do stuff outside but just shorter periods or try to at least cool off in between and of course you already know that drinking exra fluids also because we do dry out so quickly...

Hey Chevy,
Indy always looks like that. He was just afraid you might jump his bones...and I think he probably gets too much as it is!

Hey from a fellow Floridian. I'm up in the Tampa Bay area and I'm in week 7/24. SX hasn't been bad but I definitely can't handle as much sun/heat as before.

When I go out now I tend to feel lightheaded and weak in the hot FL sun. I just avoid the peak hours (I work in a office, which helps) but I would hate to have to work construction again, lol.
Anyway, lots of water, sunscreen, a good hat and try to minimize your exposure.

Best wishes on starting tx, I have no doubt you'll do well.
Peace

Why thanks chev, I've been very impressed with you also. Your good spirits & charm come through in a way not many others can achieve in cyber space. Thanks for your kind thoughts. I always try to bear this in mind:

Thanks, for the Florida update..I am in the extreme heat here..Hot, Hot, Hot!! Humidity has been like 100% for the past two weeks..
Damn, when my back gets better, I work for an assembly company.. Lots of lifting, standing around, and walking.. I qualified for my insurance again through them, and get it reinstated next week.. This is great, as if I need disability, now I can get it.. I think there is a few other Floridians here..Good luck to you, and thanks for the encouragment..Snook
