Hearing Loss

anyone ever have hearing loss?  I ended up in the ER this past weekend for 80% hearing loss in right ear, 50% in left.  Had bad migraine and nausea and diarreah (diarrhea).  First Doc said it was shingles and second doc said it was either minears disease or a tumor on the inner ear nerve.  Great docs around here can't decide which one to listen to.

I see where Brokeback Mountain won 1st prize at the gay film awards and that the original working title was "hump back mountain". Y'know i haven't seen the movie,but i sure will at some point;but ,i have read the story..It's from a collection by Anne Proux-great stuff-loved the one about old fellar so proud that he owned a red gelding "with the sand to eat a man whole"  (i'm quotin from memory....) proux also wrote novel about stonemasons& deer huntin family in Vermont-Post Cards; dyin fishing village in eastern canada-Shipping News-and now a couple of collections about the west...Damn good writing,for the most part,and well worth the reading! That movie was taken from one story ina collection,a good story by my reckoning,but there's plenty of others to chose from...Think the book is called 'Red Dirt".......check it out-there is more than sex&saddles....and nothing whatsoever to do w/ Roy Rodgered-lol

Guys, I think John Wayne would have shot them, no debates or discussions.  I used to counsel rodeo camp when I was a teenager, and I have NEVER met a gay cowboy.  Kind of like a gay NASCAR driver.  Just doesn't happen.  

Iceboy, I am sure rebetol is the same as ribavirin, and alot of times the insurance companies encourage folks to take the generic ribavirin instead of rebetol or copegasys.  I have taken the ribavirin, copegasys, and the ribosphere and all were the same in sides, etc.  Ribavirin and ribosphere I paid a generic price on.

Dyce, just keep up with the hgb and get that procrit ready!  At 4 weeks, I just thought I was supposed to feel bad because of the treatment, no idea that the fatigue was anemia.  Do you know when they will intervene?

i don't wanto argue inna bad way but i must dissagree w/ john wayne 'thang' ;his real name was miriam,he was a an Actor,a city fella who got type cast as a tuff cowboy-didn't like horses or getting dirty;like to play golf,dress nice & sat a horse real bad......i don't know everything about sex& cowboyin ...but i grew up w/ horses; family into rodeo-barrel racing,calfroping&western reining&gameshows-In New York& Ontario ........no less! ..Bullriders were always the most macho little guys,had to keep an eye on my sister around 'em.....but almost ripe for parody-elaborate western(black leather) wear,so over the top 'butch'....now,i'm hardly a spokesman for gay culture,but then again,i am a spokesman for ALL cultures&peoples..... just cuz i feel like i should...i mean,i really like pretty much everybody-there is always 'something' to like-people are way cool!!! unless they're not!!!-mean,intolerant,hateful,superior,greedy-you know,the usual eastern-elite liberal claptrap!!! i'm into the humor 'AT Anybodys expense!!! just not into imagining john wayne " shootin 1st"  because of what consenting adults get up to in the privacy of their bedrolls...don't need to imagine that either!! Oh, won't argue with you at all about it.  John Wayne the cowboy was a character and certainly not a real man, simply an idealized man's man.  The cowboys I knew were when I was a teenager, and they were womanizing southern red necks, and probably a whole different breed unto themselves.  The majority were also good husbands when they did settle down though!

Rebetol is the generic for Ribivirin, thats what it states on my rx.  It is the same to me, only I have the generic and probably cheaper cost. Now, about the bloods; I did have small drops about every 2 weeks, nothing drastic and this last cbc showed them to elevate themselves back up a bit.  Doc seems to think they have probably stabalized now.  The sx seam to be the same.  My worst is the anxiety and we worked on fixing that today with the meds.  You are right, you need not to leave that office without those meds. It will take about 7-10 days to get into the system. Things will start to get better after that; I am hoping I can get Physco Cybil back in her box, before they cart me off in a straight jacket. LOL LOL

Hearing loss! blimey, the list goes on!

Remember me, I was the one who said that i had no sx and I was cruising along...well, i now eat my words, this week hasnt been the best... achy, nausea, diarrhoea, insomnia, barely eating (force a bit of food down with the riba) bruising, fungal infections..blah blah blah...I could go on, but I am sure you guys have heard it all before..Now I am just waiting for the hearing loss!  Had a blood test today so it will be interesting to see what it says when i go see the doc tomorrow.

anyway, thats my whinge for the day

thanks to the ones who answered me. I got my hearing back in the left ear and the right ear is almost there. They are planning to do an MRI to see if it is a tumor on the nerve but I used a nasal spray and it worked so I think it was sinus. I have hep c and have treated 3 times with no luck

Sorry, don't remember you from other post.  So sorry you are having such a tough time not responding to tx.  If anything as others have stated, it possibly did your liver better than what it was.

Did you go to the hospital or Doc for your hearing loss?  Glad to hear the nasal spray helped some.  Perhaps clogged up from sinuses?  I get an awful drainage in my left ear that leaves it raw but Doc gave me some neopsorin typr drops fpr that.  It helps.  Aside from the ringing in my ears, i hope for no hearing loss.

Yeppers, still awake.  Figure after my morning routine and meds, I will take a Trazodone and pile up in my bed for the day.  Suppose to get some rain this afternnon so that will be a perfect time to pile-up!  Hate it on days though when it's so pretty outside and I have days like this.  Yesterday was an awful day for me if you read it in another post.  I need to find out today from the clinic if my HGB has dropped, it's possible with the way I feel.

Also wanted to tell you that my older sissy (she is 13 months older than me) went and had her hep panel done and it was faxed to me.  Her's is so different from mine, I can't read it.  She lives in Ft. Worth, Tx. and wants to get started on tx soon.  That was her 1st baby step, now she needs to schedule bx.  I am going to e-mail it to Friole, she can put it in laymans terms for me.  For instance her AST is 27 IU/L  and ALT 31 IU/L, do you know what that means?  Anything else I can look on here to help me?

I guess they did not do a PCR test because at the bottom it says PCR testing can be requested if indicated.  Any ideas?

There are 7 children in my family, lost twin sissy 3 years ago to colon-Rectal cancer.  Don't know if she was Hep C pos.  So far it's myself, older sissy, 2 older brothers and can't get lil sissy or lil bro to test.  We do not know how we got it, chances are back when we were kids, we lived in alot of forgein countries (service brats) and I remember alot of inoculations as a kid.  We just don't know.  As far as we have all discussed, no bad behaviors.  And yes, I will be the veteran at this and will have to talk sissy thru it.  Hope to get Brother to treat next year after both hip replacements.

John Wayne always protected the helpless. I've been to his hometown in Iowa and if he didn't like dirt he was in the wrong place. He went to UCLA on a football scholarship and lost it due to a surfing accident that hurt his leg. I personally look at him like Ronald Reagan. Those types make us better as a society and they are good role models for young men. As far as the author of the book that Brokeback Mountain and there work I don't care. I'll never see the movie or anything that tears at the fabric of our country. The sooner that **** gets back in the closet the better we will be as a people. I never understand how 1% of our population can have so much influence on movies and television. Why don't the other 99% say shut up and sit down. I never understood why women were in Western anyway they took away from the shooting and fighting. As far as Reagan goes are you sure he even knew he had deminishing mental capabilities. As far as presidents that have passed through since I've been around my number one was Harry Truman (real man and original dirty Harry) (Democrat) Then there was a General (Republican) who did little which makes him a good politician. Let's see then we had the poor guy that was boinking Marylynn and anything that slithered on the ground (sign of a good democrat). Shot by a jealous husband and my money is on Joe Dimagio. Shot low was not meant as firearms. I have a big mouth but would never hurt anyone. Not made that way. I'd rather be called a wuss than someone brutal. Shot low - my definition means lower standards as in most politicians. As far as the author of the book and other books obviously he has been successful and probably has had other subjects of great interest. Your right though the worse case senario between any of us should be to agree to disagree respectfully. I find myself to be very anti Hollywood and the agendas they try to push. I don't like being led around like a sheep to slaughter by their ideologies. My grandmother always told me on a regular basis "do no harm". She was the wisest person I've ever known. So at the end of this rambling what I'm saying is that I understand and respect your opinion and didn't mean to offend anyone personally. Dale
