Hep C Injection Question - Bleeding after Pegasys Injection

Hi,

Wanted to find out if anyone else has experienced this - did my injection on Friday night in my stomach area and when I pulled the syringe out, had a quick splash of blood on my belly and a drop of blood in the syringe where the needle attachs.  The blood cleaned up with an alcohol swab and stopped immediately.  About 15 minutes later, felt dizzy and light headed (sort of fainted for a minute).  Was pale and sweaty for a while and then felt drained the rest of the night.  Called my doctor after work on Saturday and he said I might of hit a little blood vessel but not to worry about it.  Asked him about absorption if you hit a blood vessel but didn't get much of an anwer.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Does anyone know about whether the interferon absorbs if you happen to hit a vein?

Going to start meditation class soon so that I can decrease anxiety about the whole treatment process.  Feeling the pressure that if I don't reach certain levels by week 12 (I am on week 7) then its over.

Thanks for helping - just writing this is calming.

There were very few times over the course of my 48 shots that I didn't have blood appear after my shot.  I think some of us just have more of those little vessels than others.  I didn't have much fat to pinch so that might have been part of it too.  It did not adversely affect the outcome of my treatment.  So...don't worry.

Happened to me a few times while txing.  If you hit a vessel once in a while, there is nothing you can do about it.  My doctor wasn't concerned about it either.

That exact same thing happened to me with my first injection. Nothing to worry about you probably came back out thru a small capillary hence the small amt. of blood.

You would still have absorbed the med thats why your dr.probably was not to concerned.  Just make sure you leave it in long enough to absorb (10sec.or so)

The way you felt the rest of the night could have just been a result of your anxiety or could have been a reaction to the Inf. Try to relax with it ,as the weeks go on hopfully it will go better for you.
