Hep C Question

by UnNaMeD429, Nov 07, 2009 06:59PM
I was just wandering how many years does it take for someone to go from Stage 0 to Stage 4 Hep C? If you had Hep C for 22 years, and recently got diagnosed with 2 years ago, could you still be in just stage 4? After having it for 22 years without any treatment prior? Just doing a little research, and don't know much about it.

Also what is the best time frame to get tested for any type of Hepatitis? I'm not really sure if it's week's or days.

The progression rate of Hep C varies from person to person, and, unfortunately, it isn't predictable.  The good news is that generally it progresses slowly. Many people have it for 20+ years and are still in Stages 1 or 2, or even 0.  If you've had it for 24 years, you could be in any stage. The best way to find out how your liver is doing is to have a biopsy.

Ive had hep c about 30yrs, up until about 10yrs ago everything was fine. In the last 10yrs Ive gone from stage 0 to early cirrhosis.I wouldnt advise anyone to delay treatment,I'm a 1a non responder and patiently waiting for the arrival of newer treatments.
