Hep C Reactive result

Are these #'s good or bad? Total Protein 7.6, Albumin 4.8, Alkaline Phosphatase 65, ALt 40, Ast 34, Direct Bilirubin 0.3, Total Bilirubin 2.2. Does enzymes usually go up and down together? Is it a good thing that if I do need treatment is this in my favor? I'm scheduled for a ultrasound Thursday and waiting for results of PCR test.Is it possible for false positive liver panels? I fasted 24 hours before test do you think that would effect my bilirubin #? And finally does these numbers indicate liver damage?

You don't mention what kind of Hep C test you were reactive for but you need to have an RNA DNA test to determine your viral load and your genotype.

Your liver enzymes are not an indicator of liver damage per se. There are a whole host of blood tests that can help to determine your liver damage level but the true measure of your liver condition is determined by a liver biopsy. There are some new noninvasive scans being tested now that will be a noninvasive way to determine damage, but as of right now, a liver biopsy is the "gold standard" of determining the damage level and even biopsies have limitations as to how much of the liver they can "see"

It seems to me you need further testing before you can decide what to do about dealing with this disease. Keep us posted on what you find out.
