Hep C blood clotting

After taking many blood tests including one that goess to california, I was told that I have fibrosis of the liver.  Now I find that I have a blood clotting problem and upon going to the hematologist I am told that it looks more like cirrosis (cirrhosis) of the liver.  More blood has been taked for testing.  Is it possible for the hema hematologist to say this and not the hepatologist, who is the liver specialist?

I'm not sure why you are not hearing from your hepatologist but they can tell a lot about the condition of your liver from blood work.  My guess is you will hear from him/her on your next visit.

The only way to know the health of your liver for sure is to get a liver biopsy.

What is your platelet count?
What is your INR value?
These are blood test that will indicate how well your blood is clotting.

Low platelet count and higher than normal INR values are typical symptoms of stage 4 liver disease. Cirrhosis.

You should see a Gastroenterologist or a Hepatologist soon. Advanced liver disease is a very serious and sometimes fatal illness. A liver biopsy will tell the scope of the disease.

Best of luck.
