Hep C test

by Lora Z, Sep 17, 2007 07:37PM
Hi, I went to the doctor to get tested and I'll find out the results Wednesday.  The lady at the lab told me that they'll let the doctor know if my levels are even a little raised.  Does anybody know what this means?

Tested for Hep C?  The levels you're referring to are probably your levels of liver enzymes, ALT & AST.  There are plenty of posts on here describing what these are & what "normal" levels are (in short, the lower the better).

You were tested for alt, ast, bilirubin, albumin etc.

For a man, normal alt is 0 to 50, ast is 0 to 40, bilirubin<1.2, albumin <5.3.

For a woman, the normal ast and ast is about 10 less than for a man, 0 to 40 for alt and 0 to 30 for ast.

bilirubin and albumin has the same normal range for male or female.

definitely, lower is better.
