A lot of "street drugs" are drugs prescribed on a regular basis by doctors, so are they any better because one has an Rx for them?

Will, you bring up a good point on the idiots.

I am wondering if there are  "any idiots"  here? Hopefully we can know who they  are ..we would not want to have these" idiots " posting advice...this could be very dangerous?

I was in a group of idiots that used street drugs that may have delivered the virus - sharing straws of bills snorting really bad coke.

maryland - one of the greatest deterents to treating is the continued use of alchohol and drugs.  The liver is the clearing house for all of that and you don't want to muddy the water.  Be sane and put it behind you.

pumpkin - my dear, you are overloaded.  Post transplant, on triple, no help, insurance woes.  I think you will get more response if you scroll to the top on this screen and click on the (orange) box that says "POST A QUESTION."  I am afraid you will not get much response tagged onto the end of this thread.  I would call social services and see if they can help you with food.  Or ask someone to shop for you.  I think you must have the numbers for the drug assistance since you were on that before.  I also think you can have the new pharmacy get the information from the old pharmacy.  I had to change pharmacies on tx too and it was fairly smooth. If you do need the assistance numbers post that and we will find them.

Good afternoon.  On week 7 of 3 drug therapy, post op liver transplant.  My nurse says "only 5 more weeks of the Incivek and it will be smooth sailing!!".  Like the interferon and ribavirin have no side effects.  Physical side effects have been present since the start, 6 shots of Procrit, 1 blood transfusion.  Now my insurance co. has switched pharmacies on me (which I found out on my own when I went to re-order), and now am having to jump through hoops on fire for drug co-pay assistance, which I had been receiving.  Been in bed for 5 days now, have to go to work tonight.  No groceries, house is a disaster, my poor dog is sad, so-called friends haven't done a single thing for me.  Great news is that hcv was non detectable at 5 weeks.  I AM grateful, and feel guilty because of all the mixed emotions, like I should not feel sick and complain, or feel as if I am going out of mind.  Told my dr about worsening depression, he said go to my primary.  Great, I thought he would recommend something.  Of course that would be too easy.  Wondering about the quality vs quantity of life.

This depends on which street drugs you are referring to.

Generally speaking, using street drugs while on treatment (or any other time) is not a good idea. In addition to the usual reasons for not using street drugs (addiction, possible infections, frying the brain, effects on general physical health, etc.) the drugs could adversely affect treatment by interfering with your strict medication schedule. If you nod out or zone out and miss your medications, that may have an impact on treatment success. In addition, the treatment drugs interact with many drugs and you could potentially have a severe drug interaction or one that reduces the effectiveness of the treatment drugs.

On the other hand, if, when you say street drugs, you are referring to Marijuana, some people do use Marijuana while on treatment because it does relieve nausea. (In some states Marijuana can be purchased at a legal establishment.)

Always clear any drug use (prescription or non prescription) with your doctor.

Why would you bother treating hep c if you're planning to abuse your liver with drugs?

Any drugs, be they from the street or not, should be checked with your doctor for potential side effects.
