Hep C

I have Hep C and feel fine and wanted to know if anyone has  heard of if there is a risk of getting my wife pregant who does not have Hep C and then passing it on to my unborn child.

From what I have read, there is 3% chance of passing from mother to child, which is when there is blood from a caesarian etc or/and forcepts used to bring the child out of the womb and their is blood around or spilt on the instruments.  Since it is you that has hep c, your wife can only get it from you if there is blood to blood contact, so, in saying that I would say that your child and wife would be alright.

Farout, I hope all that made sense, some brain fog issues happening  to me at this time, maybe someone else can explain in better.

i had two children 1990 and 1992. had hep c since approximately 1978. first child was a high forcept delivery with lots of damage to myself and the child. lots of blood for both of us. both my boys are negative, thank god. so i would think you would have no worries that way. all the best to you.

Hi Spark.  I agree with the others (and one of them even had a forceps delivery and has living proof:)!  I was a HCV + mom, gave birth, nursed, raised him for the next 20 years in the same household (no precautions taken; didn't know I had HepC), and he's fine :)  Best of luck!
