Hep and Life Insurance

I was told that I couldn't get a life insurance policy purchased during tx or I guess since it was known that I had hepC.  So my question is this, how long do we have to wait after clearing and staying clear after tx in order to get some life insurance.  Ever?  Anyone with experience with this, good or bad.  Are we ever life insurance insurable again?

I believe after 5 years clear or SVR you qualify for insurance. If you already have it they can not drop you but if you change the existing policy they can up your price. As for starting it after dx I think you could get it but the price may be high. It depends on the company. This has been my experience but I am not positive of all the policies. LL

Thanks for the confidence on the viral load that did get me a little depressed. I did get a vaccination for hep B my last shot is in December. I used LabCorps for tests and I couldn't get copies at the office as far as I know but I will inquire when I go for my CBC/Tsh next week. I can also get copies of my tests from the Gastro Doctor. I also inquired about a 72 week regimen but he didn't sound like he would go for it. He was prestty firm with the 48 weeks, but as I near the end I will push for it or threaten to see anoter doctor. Also just wondering do you get any meds for pain from primary care or from the Hep doctor? He doesn't sound like he does any prescribing.

the GI doesn't prescribe too many things outside of the tx meds, the pcp will take care of any pain med you need.
My GI did not want to extend, but I mentioned it on and off, until the scheduled last month. he then decided to go for longer time. the ok blood work and minimal sides probably helped with the decission, I insisted because I did not clear by week 12, and studies showed that extending might increase my svr chances.
I was ready to change doctors also, for the 4 th time.
