Hep c and chronic pain meds

I have very bad back and knee pain. I have had both knees operated on and have been able to avoid back surgery so far. I have been taking percoset for pain but I was wondering if Oxycontin would be better for me due to my Hep C. The percoset I take is 10/325. I am just getting sick of all the acetaminophen, "spell check" I am taking. This cant be good for my liver. So my question is, what would a pain management doctor prescribe? Percoset or Oxycontin?

I'm not sure the acetaminophen will harm you, if taken within recommended doses. It's the most widely suggested analgesic for HCV patients. There’s no evidence that acetaminophen accumulates in the body. Other than that, you could ask your doc about Vicoprofen (hydrocodone and ibuprofen) too, but the ibuprofen will affect coagulopathy to some degree; might not be desirable with advanced liver disease. Are you cirrhotic, by the way?
