Please don't freak out.

You will always test positive for antibodies, even though you are cured.

Kind of like when you get a hepatitis A vaccine, you will have antibodies, even though you don't have hepatitis A.

When you say you "succeed your treatment" do you mean that you made it through to the end of the treatment,  or that after 6 months you were SVR? Did they test for antibodies or active virus? Like Marcia2202 says you will always have the antibodies, but you shouldn't have the active virus. Maybe you should call your doctor back and get that part clear before you freak out.

I hope you don't have to go through it again, but if you do, there are many on here who have had to do the same thing so they can advise you.

Hang in there.

I agree with the other responses you received. Did you complete your full tx?  For me, at week 24, the virus was undetected, but had to continue tx for the full 48 weeks.  You need to talk with you doctor about your results and, if still not satisfied, this site can assist you further: i.e. find another doctor, answer your questions.

Don't waste your energy on anger, direct it towards finding answers.  Not only will you succeed, but you will be back on that road to recovery.

Best of luck, don't give up

There is an important distinction between testing positive for antibodies, and for the active, RNA virus. As mentioned above, if you were diagnosed with Hep C and eventually treated for it, that tells us you had HCV RNA in the past. You’ll always carry antibodies; these are expected as a result of infection, but don’t pose any harm.

Inquire as to your HCV RNA status; that’s the key question to determine if actual virus is present. Best of luck to you—

Having only completed 3 months of treatment and being a geno 1 it is very likely the virus has returned even though you were undetectable at 3 months.  An HCV RNA PCR will determine this.
