Hepatitis and Birth Control

by zellyf, Feb 24, 2008 11:35PM
Hello.  Popping over from the Hep B board where I am the only regular female poster.  Hoping you can help.  Does anyone know if the Mirena IUD is safe for use in those of us with viral hepatitis?  It is not the copper IUD but does not release estrogen.  Its progesterone only.  Thanks!

Zelly, I don't know if this will help....I'm getting set to start tx in a drug trial and the study nurse told me to start using protection and I could use an IUD or whatever I want. (This is before I told her I had my tubes tied years ago.)  She didn't tell me to limit myself to a particular type of product or anything.  I'm thinking that she would have if there were concerns.  That is all I know.  Good luck with getting an answer.
