Hepatitis blood test results

My tests results read as follows:
Hepatitis B Surface Antibody
  Hepatitis B Antibody       POS          ABN

Hepatitis A Ab, Total         POS          ABN

(?)SA                                0.54                                    0.10 - 4.00    ng/mL
   Test Methodology: Hybritech PSA

Hepatitis C RNA Quant
    HCV  RNA   Quant                 <50                               <50        IU/mL
    HCV  RNA    Log                    <1.70                            <1.70     log  10

Hepatitis C Virus Genotype
Unable to perform Hepatitis C Virus Genotype.
Hepatitis C Viral load is <50  IU/mL

**********I did some research on these results and what I understand is that a positive result for the Hep A and Hep B tests indicates an immunity to these viruses either from a vaccine or recovery from an infection.  Is this correct?  I could not find anything on understanding the results for the Hep C??

Any information you can offer will surely help.
Thanks,   HayleeGirl

I'll comment on the HepB portion of your question.  HepB antibody positive is a great thing. It usually means that you are immuned to HepB, either from past infection or vaccination.  But to be absolutely sure, I would check to make sure your HBsAg (HepB surface antigen) is negative.  HBsAg is the marker of a HepB infection.  A few people do test positive for both the antibodies and antigen, which mean they have HepB.

I don't know if the following will help or not.  It is directly off my labs sheet:

Hep C RNA  Interpretation -

"The expected reference range for an individual not infected with HCV RNA virus is HCV RNA not detected.  Assay method is polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using the Roche Cobas TaqMan  HCV Test.  This assay is an untrasensitive quantitative HCV RNA test with an analytical measurement range from 10-25,000,000 IU/mL (1.0-7.39 log IU/mL).  A positive hepatitis C RNA PCR result (HCV RNA detected) is consistent with a hepatitis C virus infection."

They go on to say that a Neg. Hep C RNA PCR result (not detected) does not rule out the presence of PCR inhibitors in the patient specimen or HCV RNA concentrations below the level of detection of the assay.

Don't really have a clue about all this - I'm so new at it - thank God mine is" not  detected".  tho' after reading that last bit again I'm still not sure that I'm out of the woods. -:)

If this helps you - or someone else - all well and good.

Hope someone else can do better.  Take care.

It doesn't appear you have Hepatitis C. The sensitivity of the test you took appears to be 50 IU/ml and you are under that. This means no virus. No hepatitis C. The reason they couldn't do your "genotype" is because you have no virus to genotype. So congratulations! What made you think you had Hep C? Of course, go over these results with your doctor.'
