i was reading this...

"WHAT IS VIRAL HEPATITIS?
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by medications, alcohol, or a variety of other agents including the viruses that cause mumps, measles, herpes and infectious mononucleosis"...
that's all it says about mono though...
My daughter had a major case of mono 7 years ago, and developed hepatitis connected to it. She was very jaundiced; so yellow, she lit up the room. Her ALT scores were over 500.
The mono- caused hepatitis clears completely after the mono goes away, according to her doctor; indeed her ALT went back to normal.
Hepatatis simply means "inflammation of the liver". It can come from many causes including other illnesses, chemicals, viral infections, food-borne germs, etc. Only the viral hepatitis forms are contagious.
If you have had hepatitis, there are traces in your blood, usually antibodies. This may be what they found in your blood, and they would show that you've had hepatitis, not that you have it actively right now.
If there is any doubt, you should be tested with specific tests to see if you NOW have any of the viral hepatitises, HAV, HBV, or HCV... or even one of the less common ones.
Good luck.
i was just reading yesterday about mono causing hepatitus...not viral...i really didn't read the article that closely but you should be able to do a search on "hepatitus and mono (sp). wish you luck finding info...you might not get many answers here most here have hepatitus c, a virus...
of course that does'nt mean you couldn't have hepc...not connected to mono at all...do you have viral hepatitus or hep from just mono? that's what i would find out if i were you. hard to comment without more details on kind of hepatitus, liver damage...etc...
Keith,,,,I could see you developing mono from hepatitis but not other way around. Is it hep c? Also,,,is it possible before 14 that you were exposed some way or another to hepatitis. That would explain the immune system not being up to par and you being more prone to catch anything and everything.
what kind of hepatitis do you have? is it hepc?
many of us have a history of mono. and poor health. my doctor said that hepc can cause postitive test for mono. i dont really know the connection but he was a hepatologist.
if you have hepc you need to educate yourself well. this site is a good place to start! love and prayers.
