Hepititas from Mono

When I was 17 I spent 14 days in the hospital with a severe case of mono.  I also suffered from some blood disorder.  the doctor said I developed hepititas from the mono.  I recovered over the next year and a half.  I have a very poor immune sysmtem and catch everything that comes around.  I am currently 45 and have been sick most of my life.  A few years ago I went to donate blood and they tested my blood.  It came back positive for hepititas. they would not take my blood.

I asked my doctor if this hepititas could be causing some of my symptoms and he did not think it could but was not sure.

What can you tell me?  Any information will be appreciated.  Hopefully, I can get something to take to my doctor.

Sincerely,
Keith Cumbie

i was reading this...

http://www.mckinley.uiuc.edu/health-info/dis-cond/commdis/hep-qa.html

"WHAT IS VIRAL HEPATITIS?
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by medications, alcohol, or a variety of other agents including the viruses that cause mumps, measles, herpes and infectious mononucleosis"...

that's all it says about mono though...

My daughter had a major case of mono 7 years ago, and developed hepatitis connected to it.  She was very jaundiced; so yellow, she lit up the room.  Her ALT scores were over 500.
The mono- caused hepatitis clears completely after the mono goes away, according to her doctor; indeed her ALT went back to normal.

Hepatatis simply means "inflammation of the liver".  It can come from many causes including other illnesses, chemicals, viral infections, food-borne germs, etc.  Only the viral hepatitis forms are contagious.

If you have had hepatitis, there are traces in your blood, usually antibodies.  This may be what they found in your blood, and they would show that you've had hepatitis, not that you have it actively right now.
If there is any doubt, you should be tested with specific tests to see if you NOW have any of the viral hepatitises, HAV, HBV, or HCV... or even one of the less common ones.
Good luck.

Keith,,,,I could see you developing mono from hepatitis but not other way around. Is it hep c?  Also,,,is it possible before 14 that you were exposed some way or another to hepatitis.  That would explain the immune system not being up to par and you being more prone to catch anything and everything.

what kind of hepatitis do you have?  is it hepc?
many of us have a history of mono.  and poor health.  my doctor said that hepc can cause postitive test for mono.  i dont really know the connection but he was a hepatologist.
if you have hepc  you need to educate yourself well.  this site is a good place to start!  love and prayers.
