High AST (SGOT)

Hi,

Please help, here's my story:-

I have high total cholesterol that runs in the family.  3 months ago after a full body check, I started taking Simvore 10mg (similar medication as Lipitor), at the same time I also went for Hep B vaccination, taken 2 injections so far.

Last week, I went to do a blood check to see if the cholesterol has gone down.  It did, but my Doctor is now worried about my Liver.

AST (SGOT) : 51 U/L (It was 47 three months ago)
ALT (SGPT) : 127 U/L (It was 77 three months ago)
Gamma GT   : 148 U/L (It was 93 three months ago)

I don't drink, I don't smoke.
I suspect the increase is due to cholesterol medication but my doctor disagree.  In any event, my doctor asked me to stop the cholesterol medication and told me to control the cholesterol level by diet and go back to do a check in 3 months time.

My doctor didn't tell me what was the reason for increase.
Is it possible that the Hep B Vacinnation / cholesterol medication that caused the increases?

Hi Kutu.   Since you don't smoke and don't drink, I tend to think you're suspicion is valid  (that it's the cholesterol med), and since your doc stopped the medication, I tend to think your doctor thinks you're right, too, even though he's said he disagrees with you.  Best of luck.
