High liver count

I had a family member who recently went into the hospital with symptoms of severe vomitting.  Our local hospital performed blood tests and her liver enzyme count came back at 11,000!  The doctor's we have talked to have told us this is extremely high.  She was then shipped to the next major hospital for further tests.  Today her liver count came down to 9000 but this is still extremely high. This occured from her severe alcohol and prescription drug addition.  She recently broke her thumb and the doctors gave her viocidin but she was talking tylonal on top of the viocidin, which the doctor's have informed us could have caused this liver failure.  We are very worried and the doctor's will not release much information to us.  What can you tell us about her condition and what are the odds of her liver count continuing to go down.  I have a family member in the medical field who infomed me that that high of a count can be dangerous.

I have never heard of a liver count that high!  Does she have hepatitis?  I guess more information is needed but yes,,,,once getting off alcohol/drugs,,,the counts should definitely come down unless of course she also has hep...

I am very sorry for your family member.  Unfortunately, I think you are needing some reassurances that no one here is able to give.  We aren't doctors and what you've been told is correct - those are very high liver enzymes.

Try to be patient - I'm sure when the doctors have something to tell you they will.  They need to get as many answers as they can before they start making guesses.
