Hives

Can anyone tell me where to go to get a Beneryl shot for hives. Today is Sunday which makes it harder to see anyone. I've been to a dermatologist but to no avail. This is getting worse by the minute. The local minor meds around here do not give this shot. I don't want to go to the emergency room as there is always at least 5 to 7 hrs wait.

I'm a 67 yr old grandmother and I'm getting very nervous. PLEASE PLEASE some one out there HELP!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!

Emergemcy rooms are usually set up on a "triage" system. The system sorts those in most immediate danger and puts them first for medical attention.
For instance, a patient with a broken bone would have to wait while an asthmatic was being treated, even if the broken bone person arrived first.
Asthma is more life threatening than broken bones.
Hives might get you to the front of the ER, I once accompanied my friend whose child was having a severe reaction to a bee sting, and we were ushered right in.
If your hives are a reaction to the tx, have you called your tx dr, the tx hotline, or your primary care physician?
Good luck--hives are very very irritating, I finally got a shot of steroids from my PCP to stop mine.

You can get oral Benadryl over the counter at any grocery store or pharmacy (the liquid would probably work faster than the pill form).  But if you're concerned about the hives, don't hesitate to go to the emergency room, (or call 911) especially if your throat starts closing.

Uhmmmm Don't mean to scare you - but if you haven't gone to the Emergency room for a serious reaction such as this - and it is getting worse...

It's something I would seriously consider.

Anaphylactic shock is a very bad thing.

You really need to be aware of the consequences of such a choice.

We're a HEPC group - so I don't know if your hives have anything to do with medications --- and I don't know what causes them...

BUT NONE OF US ARE DOCTORS.

So - we cannot tell you what to do --- other than --- if you feel sick or have issues or problems - go see a doctors.
