Hot shower morning after first shot=agony?

I just started treatment with Pegasys/Ribavirin yesterday...  I had my shot at the clinic around 1:30PM (i'll be taking it before bed at home from now on), and around 5:30 i started getting the classic "flu-like symptoms"... by the time i went to bed (around 11:30PM), the symptoms weren't so bad, and i actually slept for about 7 hours.

I woke up this morning, and actually didn't feel too bad.   However, i took a hot shower, and once i got out, my symptoms flared up again really bad, and lasted for about 1 1/2 hrs.

I took some ibuprofen (400mg) and now i'm feeling somewhat alright again, if just a little knackered and achy.

My theory is that the hot water got my blood really circulating, and kind of 'reactivated' the pegasys in my system to produce acute symptoms again.  But who knows?

If i've learned anything, i guess from now on, instead of taking a shower in the morning before going to work, i'll take a shower at night before i go to bed, so if i feel crappy, at least i can sleep it off, and it won't affect my work performance the next day (and i won't be a total grub rolling into work, haha)

My question is, has anybody else encountered this?  that is to say, feeling ok, but then taking a hot shower and your symptoms flaring up again?  Any thoughts, ideas, comments, suggestions?

thanks in advance,

peace,

-moopertan

Thanks everyone for the feedback... i think it may have been coincidental.  I really only felt lousy for about 2 days after my shot, and i feel fine now, not really having any side effects, so i guess i'm lucky.  I think it also helps that i have a glass of Emergen-C every morning and a Vitamin B supplement with my lunch every day.  I also eat pretty healthy, too.  And, yes, i'm drinking a lot of water.  I'm not even that low on energy, i took my dog for a nice long walk today.  I guess we'll see how it goes after i take my 2nd shot this Tuesday...

Never happened to me but there was a few times I drug myself out of bed to take a shower. I looked at it then crawled back in bed.

Mooperton....  I don't know if the "hot shower" caused your symptoms but I do know that if I took a shower in the mornings while getting ready for work, I would have to return to bed because I would be completely worn out and sick.  I chalked it up to expending more energy than I had to give.  So, I started taking my showers in the evening.  I got everything I could ready the night before so that in the mornings there wasn't much to do but put my clothes on and whatever makeup I could manage  so I would look decent for work.  It's all about pacing yourself...

Also, the morning after my shot would never have allowed me the energy to take a shower as I was flat in bed the entire day after the shot.

Pace yourself and, as nygirl said, drink your water!!

no that never happened to me and I dont think I've ever read about it before so likely it was a coincedence I think

However, you might want to be careful about taking really hot baths/showers while on treatment.  The meds dehydrate you so much and cause the 'rash' that we can get - hot water will exacerbate this.  In fact most of us relied heavily on many lotions and oatmeal baths to get through.

Also, in case you dont know, make sure you are drinking at least half your body weight in ounces of water a day - it will really help and it is actually necessary to avoid all the dryness. Like if you weigh 120 drink 60 oz of water (fluids not including anything with caffeine because they can dehydrate you too so they dont really get included into the total).

Actually, I liked a hot bath because I was feverish and achy for so many months that a good warm soak felt good.

Nope, sure didn't.  Typically symptoms come and go and perhaps the hot shower just coincided with the "to come"
