How are the rest of you Gilead Trial people?

Update:

Baseline:  5mil.
     Wk.1:  52
Wk. 2: <25 (clear) in this trial.
     Wk. 4: <25
     Wk. 8: UND

wk 12 is the 21.

My Hbg. is 12.3.  I'm hanging in there.  No fun though.  I hate the SOC drugs.  I've had to stop making any major decisions.  I'm not thinking right.  Hope everyone is OK.  Maybe this tx really will work!!!!   Take care.  Beyondmwd

I got a call from the trial people doing the Pharmsset 7977 (Gilead now ) and Bristol-meyers  790052.  They said they are going into Phase 3,   I will need to get another fibro-sure test to see if they will take me because my last test read a little high when I applied for phase 2  and they didn't want me.  This is for Geno 1.  Just thought I would share the news that this trial is moving foward at light speed.

From the looks of what is happening at gild, vrus and others the breakthrough has been made and chronic hcv is about to be a thing of the past. Targeted therapy is too effective for the virus to survive.

I was in the GS9190 & GS9256 plus SOC.  I am now 8 months SVR.  Good luck to you, I am sure you will be SVR as well.  Gilead seems to be having good results.  Wishing you the best.

Hi, Sounds like you are on the path to beating this dragon and getting SVR.  I was on the Gilead 5885/9451/Teboguvir + SOC trial.  Teboguvir was discontinued on my 2nd day due to issues with it and SOC.  Had a viral breakthrough at week 8 and discontinued during my 12th week due to increasing VL.  This was my 2nd round with tx.  I have a poor Interferon response so I am in the group waiting for the oral  tx pipeline to reach us.  The research looks great and hopefully in the near future, there will be a variety of treatments that are based on individual needs so that Hep C tx can be a 100% cure.

Thanks very much for the explanation and info!  I hope that something works for me.  I didn't get a transplant to sleep all the time.  I am actually worse since the transplant...except that I am alive and no longer have cancer.  Hard to remember that when I feel like I'm walking through molasses all the time.

THE SPARK: Gilead said Thursday that in a clinical trial, two groups of patients who were treated with GS-7977 had undetectable levels of the hepatitis C virus after four weeks. The patients took GSI-7977 and ribavirin, an older treatment for the virus, and they had either failed to respond to previous therapies or had not been treated before. In November, Pharmasset Inc. — which developed the drug and was acquired by Gilead in January — said 100 percent of patients in a study responded to the drug.

ditto!   I'm ready to ditch these SOC drugs.  I did them for 88wks. in 05-06.  I don't hold much store in them for me.  But I am real grateful for these others.  Thanks for checking in.  Looks like they are working for you too.  Imagine....a life without having hep C?  The possibilities......are awesome.

I'm not AKHepper but I can tell you SOC stands for Standard Of Care and is generally used to refer to interferon/ribavarin treatment.

Someone who might have some information for you regarding post tp triple therapy is HectorSF.
He's on the transplant list at UCSF and I believe knows some post tp people doing the new triple therapy.

I'm post tp, doing tx but as genotype 2, I'm doing SOC not the triple tx.
Welcome to the forum.

Good luck

Hi, I just joined this community, although I've been reading for a couple of days.  What does the acronym SOC stand for?  I'm looking at things now in clinical trials, as I am post-transplant 3 mos. with hep C returning with a vengeance.  I will have treatment down the road, so just having a look at what could be available to me in the future.  Right now, they are talking about the 3-drug treatment of Victrelis, interferon, and ribavirin.

I'm in the Gilead+SOC trial, shot 15 last Wednesday. I haven't gotten a call, so everything must still be going OK. UNDy since week 4.
I'm pretty burnt out on the PEG/Riba, it sure is a long slog.
I don't know what my blood counts are, it's like pulling teeth trying to get any info out of the nurse I'm assigned to, so I just quit worrying about it. I suppose if things get bad enough to dose reduce they'll let me know.
I can tell my counts are low, though; starting to get winded really easy, now.
Hopefully I'll get selected to stop at 24 weeks.

Congrats....you are on your way to SVR. I was on the same drugs as your rescue and developed some resistance to the meds so I had to stop tx. I also have a poor response to INF/riba as I previously failed SOC. For many this combo of drugs is working. Best of luck and stay in the fight.

You seem to be doing well even though your first trial drug was dropped.  That's super!  Good for you!  Go Gilead!!

I started Gilead all-oral 9451, 5885, 9190, and RIBA.  Didn't work.  At week 8, added PEG and dropped 9190 in the rescue arm.  Slow start but I've  been UND since week 4 of the rescue.  So now I'm at week 18 of the rescue and 26 overall (or pretty close).  I feel great.  No sides.  Good luck!

Congratulations on your great results.  I did a Gilead trial, not the same as yours but also had the one drug pulled just before I finished up.  I was in the same trial as Mary4Now and she should br SVR by now.  I am three weeks away from my 6 mos. post treatment bloodwork and still UND so SVR is around the corner for me.  Almost everyone that was in our trial and on this forum have stayed UND - same goes for my research clinic.  So, Gilead is having great success.  I had some really difficult sx - especially skin problems and I lost most of my hair which still is not growing back yet.  I wish you the best of luck

I am on this Gilead trial.  Week 12 labs taken on the 31st. Of course it is a. 10 day waiting game to get results.

My 8 week results show a Vl of 80. Which is going in the right direction but not undetecable yet.  I know that you and some others got to undetecable at 4 weeks which is great.  At least I am still in the game right now.  My hcg at 8 weeks was 11.3. Which is not bad although a drop from
13.5.

Sides are getting worse.  In that I have no brain power or motivation.  Slightly depressed. In fact I got an anti depressant at my last visit.  I went on one when I was soc in 2005.

But I will deal with it to kick the virus.   Good luck to you at your next visit. But it looks like you are on your way.

Since no one else has answered I will tell you athat there are a number of people who are both on gilead or pharmasett trials.  You can use the seach engine in this community and likely find a number of threads and people.

Right now....mary4now is on the other side; the community, although she completed TX, but there are a number of people currently on or getting enrolled in trials.  I'm sure someone will be along, although you are just saying hi, not really asking a question and therefore less likely to get an answer.

I got a good list when I typed Gilead into the search engine and I know that curiouslady had a lot of posts and some blogs on her profile page.

best,
Willy
