How do I know the tests are true?

I was at risk of getting HCV about 12 years ago. Since then I had joined the Military for eight years and kept random Physicals. I gave blood during my time in service and they never contacted me so I figured I was ok. Now 12 years later I have come down with muscle pains and joint pains,Which I went to my R.A doctor who did a blood test for HCV ,HepA+B ,and liver function tests ,she said every thing came out ok. My worry is that the tests are wrong,Could this be. Since 1997 I have made sure that I do not do anything to put me at risk. Am I in the clear?
