How to wrap up treatment?

How to wrap up treatment?

I have just completed a very rough 6 months of the interferon and ribaviran, with some Procrit and  blood transfusions, lot of the norm in side effects, however, in this last week, 4 more days of pills, no shots left to do, I have a green thick discharge coming out of both nipples. Anyone had this or seen it before? Also, looking for answer to is it more beneficial to allow the ribaviran to leave body slowly or can one do a rapid detox. I want to fast this weekend, any thoughts or guidance on this?

I would take yourself and the green discharge down to see your Doc, quite quickly.  Sounds like an infection....

In my opinion, and it's an opinion only, I wouldn't fast the weekend I finish up on the meds or any weekend until I'm feeling better.  The meds are still in your system and slowly fade away.  I understand it takes anything form 2 to 6 weeks for the IFN to leave the body and 6 months for the Riba to leave.  You actually want it to leave slowly to give your immune system a decent chance to take over.

And frankly, I would imagine I would feel unbelievably sick if I still had the meds in my system and no food.

Good luck with your decision.

I just want to say that I empathize with you.  My husband went thru the same treatment last year minus the procrit; the treatments are extremely rough and it took at least 8 months before the medication was completely out of his system.  Hang in there.

Thank you for your answers to my questions, wasn't sure if I was posting in the proper form as I am new to this, never done a chat site like this before. As I spent half of yesterday reading back and forth, I learned some valuable information and the general consensus seems to be to allow the meds to leave the system gradually. I was also struggling with the "taper off" issue but as my doc had me on such a dose reduction over the past month, down to 600mg instead of 1000 of the riba, probably not necessary anyway. I am not fasting after all and have an appt with primary care to check out discharge. Thanks again to all of you brave and open individuals who take the time to post and answer so that all may learn.

Wow green discharge? I'd say keep them as clean as possible by often cleaning with alcohol wipes. See a doctor to be placed on anti-biotics (only if necessary).

I would do this immediately and not wait another week. It sounds like an infection.
