For any West Coast Floridian Heppers - Charley is about to take aim! Make sure you have enough Riba and Peg to get you through for a week or two, as well as lots and lots of water. My pharmacy made a special delivery yesterday just to make sure I had enough.
Silvermoon, I live 1/2 mile south of the Hernando/Pasco county line. We are right smack in the way. Went to high school in NPR. Hubby works in Tampa and is securing the 8 stores he manages.
We are avid campers so always have cooking fuels and such. Have a hand pump well for the barns so we will have water for us as well as the neighbors but always stock more.
I just came in from securing info bands on the horses feet. I put info on business cards, slip that into waterproof luggage tags and braid into their mains, also attach ID bands like hospital uses to their legs. Then I tie their tails to a tree and hope for the best. I thought of bringing them into the house but they always argue over who gets the guest room .
Well, tons of things left to secure.. I wish everyone in the path well. Toss some of your water jugs in the freezer. It will give you cold water to drink and help keep your perishables cold. A full refrigerator/freezer stays cold longer in a power outage. (hubby runs appliance stores)
P.S. Sam Hall ..to answer your post about Barngoddess..It's a "horse" thing. And yes I am a female.. Iver heard of a boy names Sue but not one named April.. LOL

I'm in Tampa so I sympathize with you. I don't have any horses but was impressed with the info band idea. Good one! I remember when Hurricane Andrew tore up Miami and a friend of mine volunteered to go down there afterward and help round up all the livestock that got lost and ran off during the storm. I always think about the horses now when I hear about a hurricane. Good luck to you tonight and tomorrow! Computer may be out for seveal days. I'll miss my Hepper Family if I can't get on the board for a couple of days.
I don't know the percentages but I'd sure like to be there. I would say it looks very good for you and I wish you the best.
That really was weird by befuddled. There's something going on there that is a bit scary. I hope she feels better today. Mike
My 1st Dr may have been a great GI surgeon but not good with HCV , his head nurse was a nightmare.
My current one is great, terrific office staff, the doctor and everyone there are eager to listen and so far has done a great job. They are very up to date and treat many HCV patients. I don't know if he's the cream of the crop..but he sure makes me feel like I'm his number one concern. If Only I had gone to him first I may not have had to stop Tx, then relapse.

I live in Tampa and still lurk on this site regularly. I finished tx last November and almost feel normal again. I just went to Home Depot and got a generator so I could have my computer during the storm. Actually it is for my father-in-law who is on oxygen but only at night so I hope to be able to check in. Stay safe everyone. If anyone needs their horses rounded up after the storm I am available. I used to have a big farm in Clearwater.
Here's to a side free weekend for all.

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Wal-Mart. She must have been
6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Wal-Mart.
We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.
The little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in "Mom, let's run through the rain," she said.
"What?" Mom asked.
"Let 's run through the rain!" She repeated.
"No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit," Mom replied.
This young child waited about another minute and repeated: "Mom, let's run through the rain,"
"We'll get soaked if we do," Mom said.
"No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning," the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm.
This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?
"Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his HCV, you said, 'If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!"
The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came or left in the next few minutes.
Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say. Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.
"Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If God let's us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing," Mom said.
Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked. But they were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars.
And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.
Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories...So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday. To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. Take the time to live!!! Keep in touch with your friends, you never know when you'll need each other -- and don't forget to run in the rain! God makes everything but unbreakable hearts.
(I am not recommending that you go run in the rain....especially over the next few days.) And soory I took up so much space. I read this and though of you all.

Well, I live in Tampa area and I am concerned! We rode out Andrew when I lived in Miami and this scene looks too similar. But we are prepared and will see what happens. Good luck to you other Floridians and hope everyone on the board has an easy weekend.
THANX so much for sharing that beautiful story.. life would be so much better if everyone learned, before it's too late, to VALUE PEOPLE more than money and things.. The special moments we share with others, are by far the MOST important things and can never be taken from us.Focusing on WHO a person IS inside.. not what they have.. because things, money can be gone in a flash.. take care and blessed be.. Carol.
I live in Florida, too. I'm not really that worried about it. I've got my supplies on hand, but I don't get in a big panic over it. I've grown up here in Brevard County my whole life and I've never ever been through a horrific hurricane. Any time one would come close, we'd just get our stuff together and ride it out. I'm on the mainline and feel safe where I'm at and have no intentions of evaculating anywhere. I've got ice to keep my meds cold. I rarely ever lose power here. I can count on one hand the times I've lost power in the 18 years I've lived here. Anyhow, I've got my batteries and candles and canned foods, etc., etc. I can just about guarantee you and you'll here from me again probably the day after the storm!
Ya'll prepare well and be safe!! I went thru several of those buggars as a kid living in St.Pete/Gulport. Looks as though Charley is going to make his curve inward midstate..St Pete/Tampa Bay area..
April..aka..Tigerpants..wow.. I lived off 19 just south of 52 for a few months last year.. Jasmine area.. have 'family' in Tarpon Spgs right now..and a friend in Zephyrhills who used to live across the street from me in Gulfport since we were born 34 days apart ! It is mind boggling how much the area has changed over the years..Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach was my home away from home when I was a teenager!!
I'd be interested to know what drs you know of there in that area with demonstarted comptenecy in HepC Tx..???
Batten down the hatches everyone..stock up, hey.. some of the grocery stores carry dry ice now.. that would be a big help in refrig and freezers...and coolers!! Stay DRY...will be thinking of ya's...
That is the most uplifitng, moving, soul stirring story I have read in a long time. If we could see the world through the child long gone in us...
We adults spend so much time converting the inocent child into a cautious, reluctant adult, a copy of us, when maybe we should be emulating their spirit instead.
who is it that said we must become like children to enter Heaven...?
TY so much for that story, and it was as long as it needed to be.
Cuteus, if you look in Mark 18:15, that's where you will find the verse:
At that time the disciples approached Jesus and said, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"
He called a child over, placed it in their midst,
and said, "Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.
