I am feeling Dazed and confused please help?

Ok my husband had hepc which without treatment for many years (didn't know he had it) he ended up w liver kung and colon cancer and passed away! I decided after that I should be tested ! I do have hepc genotype 3 ! Tricky part first fibrosure blood test showed I was in between 1& 2 nearer 2! My Dr  decided that I had many signs of cirrhosis so ordered a cat scan! Liver and spleen enlarged possible cirrhosis! Insurance company decided no meds until another fibrosure scan was done it showed lower than first one! My question. Can fibrosure tests be inaccurate? I feel awful like I constantly have fatigue itchy swollen limbs and belly! Should I have a liver biopsy? My Dr says it's risky? I have no idea what to do! Insurance denies any meds Dr TRYS to get authorized! Help advice please!!!!!!

The fibrosure test is most accurate with significant liver damage and not as much in the mid levels of damage.

So if fibrosure test says cirrhosis that is likely accurate but for F2 or F3 could be either one.

I have been living with cirrhosis for 8.5 years cirrhosis is not a death sentence.

Can you get a fibroscan test? Kind of like an ultrasound. Just do what your doctor recommends and your insurance needs and go from there.

I had 5 liver biopsies over the years before the new tests were available. If your doctor and insurance agree and if you are willing that could be an option. Liver biopsy involves having a large biopsy needle inserted into your liver and a sample is removed. The risks are like any surgery bleeding and infection. I had no adverse occurrences with mine.

Hope this helps
