that tip on the coke liter snorting bit, I tried, i think you set be up for that one. Was a heck of a rush but oh what a mess it made. I'll just stick to my pepsi. Good luck on your shot
Hang tough buddy. I do number 18 tonight and it I find screaming like a 14 year old girl helps immensely. Takes my mind off the big air bubbles. We men know when it is time to run away. If it gets to bad I call a buddy and does a drive by pick up and takes me for a chocolate shake. Have a great weekend and here's hoping for no sides. Dale
Ha fellas, The wife thing , seems to me if I'm ticklin the wifes ear I'm a getleman and a scholar but let it the other way, when shes aggitated by something you've done. Then the table turns and then lookout ,the dyce heads to the buddies garage and hangs for a while.
HOPE YA GUYS ARE OK, i'M FIXEN TO DO DART 4 DIRECTLY.
Dyce
Sorry man, can't help you much there. See i never take my wife serious. And she thinks im the one always acting weird. Should you see a doctor? Na, i went that route and now my doctors are having to see doctors. Good luck though, its a crazy world out there.
hey 'down unders' !! always nice to see an international perspective ..so what d'ya call the sheep that provide virgin wool? FAST... glad to oblige...CHEERS& GOODLUCK
That's the end of another exciting Friday night for me.
Y'all come back now, y'hear. I'd better be careful or someone will bring up the eternal sheep jokes, ha ha.
Have a good weekend.
I often thought about crossing the ditch, seems to me the country is moving ahead a hell of a lot faster than here. I think your hgb should hold up OK, but when I suspected mine was really low (as in when I was having headspins all the time) I'd ask if I could take the test the next day then go in at about 8am when hgb is supposedly higher (in the morning). Was probably wasting my time there, but my focus was on getting rid of the hep C and maximising med effects, not on feeling good during tx. This is the first time, been on a waiting list for a year, kind of put career on hold while waiting for it to start because I didn't know what to expect. Hopefully the fatigue and slowness of hep C will be gone when this is over, it's bugged me for years. Watch out for neuropsychiatic effects of the interferon.
You're right about the cultural divide, I notice it a bit too. Some funny people here though, goofydad has had me cracking up a few times. Your odds as a 3a (that was right wasn't it) are really good. Better than mine, but hey, the protease inhibitors are meant to be on the way right!
they must all be asleep or cando would've culturally divided us by now. LOL
hey a fellow kiwi! i am originally from enzed as well. I have only heard about the dose reduction thing too, and I would rather that wouldn't happen, so I am pleased in a way that i will only be having monthly tests. I just did a crawl of google and heard about the germans prescribing it too, and they are pretty savvy about integrated medicine there. I left a message with my naturopath and she will get back to me next week. I think I will continue taking it as i suspect the mix is helping me cruise through tx. Is this your first time on Tx or have you being unsuccessful before? You are almost at the end. Yes, I feel a cultural divide sometimes chatting to the US and pobably vice versa.
It's a personal call, I chose to keep going with the milk thistle, and by the time I'd seen that research I'd been taking it most of the way through the tx anyway, so thought I'd just keep going. I read somewhere that it's sometimes even prescribed in Germany for those on interferon, and I've always thought that the Germans are fairly smart and methodical bunch.
Ribavirin is definitely absorbed more with meal containing a moderate amount of fat. I hear different percentages of how much more absorption, and how much fat, but I go for about 20-30g of fat with breakfast and dinner. I don't put on weight easily, especially on tx, so that seems OK for me. Others might develop a weight problem with that, depends on metabolism I guess. I'm on 1200mg riba, only weigh 67kg or so now, was about 75 before tx. Started on 1000mg and asked to increase to 1200 after week 12, thought I could handle it after my taste of 1000, had problems with anaemia for a while (when hgb was dropping) but convinced them not to reduce dose. Haemoglobin seems to stick around 9 now, but I think my body has adjusted, feel fine, not breathless and pale like I was.
Trawl the archives and you'll see heaps about fat and riba. You don't want to do this twice, so try to get the most out of the meds. At 800mg I don't think you're going to fall over very fast, and even if you do feel bad, try to avoid dose reduction. I don't know if you've got Procrit, Epogen, Neupogen, Erythropoetin Alpha etc etc (think 3/4 there are different names for the same thing) in Australia. We don't here in NZ so the only option is dose reduction or convince your doctor that you can tough it out should you get anaemic. My doc could see I was serious about it and let me continue, but they watched me pretty carefully for a while.
It's refreshing to hear from someone at least a little closer to home, following this forum sometimes provides quite an insight on life in the US. Good luck with the treatment, I've got two shots to go, 46/48 - really looking forward to getting rid of it, esp the riba, and psycho interferon effects.
oh, so you are still taking it. maybe I will continue. actually my naturopath does know that word. i heard her mention it in relation to st johns thistle and shisandra. I try and eat healthy, but sometimes I just try and eat. My clothes are getting baggy, so hopefully I have snuck a bit of fat in my diet. So is riba fat soluble is it? I take it with meals anyway
sorry, that should read "muck up", not "muck of".
I doubt your naturopath is going to be able to provide much advice there. Especially not if you mention terms like that to her, unless she's a molecular biologist as well. I've seen one article that mentioned there "may be a link" (to reduction in SVR rates while on tx) and recommending that more studies be undertaken. All of the silymarin studies have been inconclusive so far, or contradictory due to non-standardised research. Apparently there's a large scale study on milk thistle effects going on somewhere but I don't know if it's finished. Haven't personally seen any results. I'd be interested to know if you've seen something conclusive.
I've been taking milk thistle for 13 years, had geno 1A all that time, drank like a fish, and biopsy shows me at grade 0. Of course I no longer drink, and especially not while on tx, but I'm happy to accredit the milk thistle to at least some of the lack of damage. That and good luck.
For all I know, the difference in SVR rates mentioned there could be due to other factors. I've wondered if maybe a higher percentage of those who take MT on tx also have a healthy low fat diet - which could muck of their riba aborption. All speculation on my part, but those stats are vague and can be misleading. Until I see some more convincing figures I'll continue to take milk thistle.
Have reduced the dose while on treatment though. Just in case.. Cheers.
Am I acting weird? I've completely stopped taking my wife seriously and she believes I'm acting weird. I feel so much better though. I can be sarcastic again and send gigs her way. Do you think I should see the doctor? She does! DR
There was a coal miner from Oz that was posting here. He had a great sense of humor. Due to brain fog, I can’t remember his handle. He should be close to finishing tx and I hope he checks back in here to tell us how he is doing.
It's just a though, put I think why fevers come and go during tx is when a fever comes it had just found where a virus bug was hiding as a fever means it's fighting some thing in the body and then when there is no fever would mean it has't found a bug yet. This may account for why fevers come and go.
Hope all is well this Friday morning,
Beagle
Yea gods ! Just found out that in vitro studies showed milk thistle works on cytochrome p450. which means their is a chance that it can clear the meds. hmm, must contact my trusted naturopath about that one.
Sorry mate, didn't see you there. Am taking astragalus, eleuthrococcus (Siberian ginseng) milk thistle with a sprinkle of ginger. also antioxidants
Unfortunately my doc don't like herbs and don't know nothing about them either. If you get a doc that is open to them thats great, but sometimes you get what your given. My naturopath has experience with HCV and Tx so I trust her, also know about herbs and medicine in general so i can double check her. It'll be interesting to see what the bloods say. It wasn't me with the temp of 102, mustve been someone else.
Tx can be unpreictable. Often, I didn't feel the same each day of the weeks - I didn't necessarily feel the came each Tuesday for example but did have fever/chill sporadically. 102 sounds pretty. Since you are also having low wbc maybe you should run both the fever and the herb regimen by the doc.
yu having fun yet?? glad to hear you've settled down, just don't settle for less...No Fear-We Clear!!!!
Sounds like a good plan to me guy.
Cheers and clears to you too,
Dyce
Shot nite is fine for me-hit the sack after doin last minute stuff; The day after and the day after and sometimes the day after i am affected-hot flashes,flu/squared;course the riba(esp on empty stomach) can hit like that too! tho riba&shot effects are gettin less-bothersome and i have developed Copin strategys that include water, naps, perc's and hint of herb-mix&match= approachin shot #20 !!!!....i also take vit c,e, b-complex,zinc,folic acid, alpha lipoic acid,n-acetyl cysteine and SAMe....quit taking milk thistle while treating....Truly think that trx Meds & water are 2 most important and absolutely essentials elemnts...so with my bottle i bid you all CHEERS and CLEARS -
