I love my GI and EGD experience?

Hey all, I had a great find with the GI here, we are a small desert community, and the GP and GI here, both just stellar, lucky for a small town, so I am happy about that. He smiled and hugged me, didn't ask a lot of questions, just took alot of time with me and listened and answered my questions and said I would be a magnificent candidate for tx. He said he would see me through this.  He is doing an EGD and Colonoscopy next week, and then we are going to tx. I guess I'll start in Sept. I'm nervous, chicken, scared, and more, nothing you guys didn't feel or deal with, I'm just so glad my gut told my brain that waiting til Jan. was kinda dumb, I want to be almost done with this by then :)
Anybody here have EGD experience?

Thank you guys.... crazy but I'm not even really thinking about the upcoming scopes, I guess because I have bigger things to worry about....and I think my GI does have nice blue eyes actually :)
I am very happy too about him as a person, I was so relieved. Like I said, we don't have much choice here, very small town. So he's a blessing.
I am so anxious and nervous to start tx, but I want to get this on. This forum is kinda saving me, reading and talking to people. Doable sounds really good to me. Gives me hope.
I am just worried about my hair, my energy level, sick feelings, my mental state, just a few little things (ha)....but like you said Diane, getting rid of this rotten virus is my focus. I see a target, and 'it's' right smack in the middle, and I'm aiming.

I'm so glad that you are able to talk to your GI and that he seems to really care about his patients. That is so important while on tx. Learn as much as you can while waiting to start so that things won't be a big surprise when they come along. I'm on my 14th week, and the most important thing I have learned about tx is that every day is different... actually every hour is different. I've had some sx come up that lasted a day or two and never came back, and others that started and never went away. You just never know. It is doable though... and once we are free of this rotten virus, we can look forward to a healthier life in the future.

Most importantly insure your GI has really nice blue eye's, if not find another.

good luck, it'll be fine. I've had both procedures also. I was knocked out and felt nothing afterwards.

Too funny.  Me either FG.  I had both procedures done at the same time 3 years ago and when the GI was explaining the procedures I said you're going to do WHAT to me?
Day of the procedure, while I was on the table he explained all the things that could possibly go wrong and I said oh h-ell no.  They shot me up with some Demerol and I proceeded to tell the doctor he had the most beautiful blue eyes I'd ever seen in my life and at that point I no longer had any objections to those wands and certain orifices on my body.  Then the lights went out and I don't remember anything else except I was starving when I woke up.

Gotcha on the fasting, ha ha on the egd first, reminds me of the movie 'Idiocracy'.
As for chipper, I guess that's just me normally, here I thought I was looking really gloomy yesterday when I was in with my doctor and he said that with my upbeat personality I would get through this fine (I'll bet he says that to all the gals). To me the colonoscopy and EGD compared to upcoming tx ain't nothing. It's all relative I guess. If it weren't for the tx I'd be very stressed about the scopes.
Please remind me in the future of my normal chipper self when I am anything but.

i have done a lot of crying. i dont understand about having to be a good candidate cant anybody get tx if they are willing to suffer the side effects thanks for all the info i have gotten from eveyone

I don't think I ever read a post with the words 'colonoscopy', 'happy', 'smiled' and 'hugged'.  "Stellar" is kind of iffy, 'lunar' would be closer.

Make sure you hold on tight to that love for your GI because the prep the night before the colonoscopy may change your mind.  It's a real crappy experience.

Yes for sure have the EGD done first, they will give you an iv with some good drugs. You won't feel a thing or remember much........Take care

By the way, you sound a little too chipper about the prospects of a colonoscopy.  Let me know how everything comes out.

You will need to fast for at least 24 hours.  During that time you will take all kids of pills and liquids to make you "clean as a whistle".  At these places, there are always delays and waiting .  The waiting for a garden hose of a camera can be even more distressing.  If the appointment is later in the day you are going to be tired, hungry and very anxious.  Best to get in early and get out as soon as possible.
