I need help

by Dirac, Oct 11, 2003 12:00AM
Before treatment I had pain in one or two joints of one of
my fingers. This pain was really light
and it did not bother me that much. This pain would go for
a long time and then come back. After I discoverd that I
have hcv I interprted this as one of the symptoms. Is this
a correct correlation? that I would have pain in only one
or two joints and not in all of them?
I finished treatment one month ago and  the virus
was undetectable in weeks 12, 24 and 48.
Now I know that the relapse, if it happens, occurs in the
first month post treatment. Exactly after one month
of stopping treatment, I started to feel this very
light pain in the same joint of the same finger.
I also have to add that I am not drinking fluides as I used
to do during treatment.
Do you think that this coming back light pain is an indication
of a relapse. I am preparing myself already to this possiblity
but I wish that I can read your opinions about that. Thanks a lot.

I wouldn't make that assumption at all. I think you should try to remain optimistic until you get blood work. We all live with  consuming anxiety and we are all looking for this kind of stuff as a sign of gloom and doom. I don't know why you have the joint pain but I wouldn't think that a relapse after this short a period of time would trigger this return of pain. It's possible but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. Day to day is the way to go. Stay positive if you can. Good luck. Mike

I too have just completed tx after 60 weeks and am undetected. I have joint pain mainly in my hips and lower back and at times in my hands and feet. I went to my doctor 2 days ago and she said she believes it is from all the Interferon and to give it at least 2 months after tx to diminish. I just started itching again and my first thought was 'oh no, its back' even notice my appetite is yucky.....so I know its hard for us not to think that the dragon is trying to be sneaky.....Hang in there and think positive!

The above advice seems very good. This is a difficult wait. You've done your best, the outcome is not in your control. Be patient and stay positive - it will unfold in due course. I have no direct experience since I'm still on tx, but, based on previous posts,  complications of various sorts, including joint pain, seem fairly common after combo tx.

Maybe it's just plain old arthritic pain and this can just be a coincidence? Did you hit anyone :) Please wait it out and try to stay calm and try not to get yourself all upset.

Before I finished tx I had joint pains, knee pains and pains all most everywhere else.  I had rashes, tags, lost my hair, chest pain, sore gums, headaches, and almost every other sides.  Once I got off everything went away except a rash in the groin area.  I really thought with all those sides, that I was going to die of something. Once you get off these sides go away as fast as they came. I even got thicker hair out of it. We can't help but worry
when your body feels it is being ripped apart inside and out. Don't worry, everything will get better.  God bless

Sounds more like them ritus brothers are visiting you. You know, Arthur Ritus and Bur Ritus. Take an anti-inflammitory and ease up a little. You'll be fine.
