Interferon can make the most optimistic person feel depressed.

The new meds are indeed your best hope for treatment without the added mental craziness of interferon.

Hi Baily. I am sorry to hear of your troubles. I don't think that the new treatments are causing psycho/emotional problems like interferon does. So while you may not be stable enough for the old treatments, you can probably safely take the new treatments without interferon. In fact, sovaldi has been approved for genotype 1 patients who are interferon intolerant and that just may be you because of your bipolar diagnosis. Also, the other trial drugs should be approved for interferon free treatments later in 2014. With a stage 2-3, you do have time to wait for those treatments to become available. I wish you the best of luck.
