Hello
Thank you for the answers, I will try to get it here in Europe, but I dond think it would be available in pharmacies, in a retail. Who knows!
Thank you both any way, if not, I would have to wait for new therapy!
Blessings!
I used it along with SOC (off label) G-1, VL283k at start. UND@week 2. I would not consider SOC without it. But, that's just me. jerry
given that Alinia:
1) is already FDA apprved short term
2) has very low sx profile (I am taking it for months with no sx whatsoever)
3) in vitro virus did not mutate resistant strain because it is NOT a direct
antiviral like Telaprevir
You can find the trials for geno 4 (me) in Egypt online.
When I first tried to get my hands on it last year those trials in Egypt
were discredited but fact is the FDA did approve G1 trials in the US
based on Egypt so you can imagine those geno 4 results were highly
scrutinized.
The egyptian trial for geno 4 : 12WK Alinia lead-in +36wk Alinia/SOC
produced 79% SVR with same sx as SOC alone.
Low toxicity + no resistance + improved odds are a good thing.
G1 naive results will be released next couple of months.
There are some G1s on this forum in the past whose VL increase
after taking Alinia. This is not what happend to me my already low VL
of 99K went to 46K. In the monotrial one patient became UND after wk20
so theoretically I still have a small chance but I am going to add SOC now
and go for the jackpot.
Alinia is currently in trials for hepatitis c. i believe the first trials in egypt showed that it could work as a mono therapy with genotype 4 in a very small minority of participants. it is currently in trial along with the approved treatment for hepatitis c - interferon/ribavirin. I believe the trials in the US involve mostly G1. Members of this form have experimented with it off-label (not for the prescribed purposes) with mixed results. It may improve the efficacy of interferon. don't know about liver stages or alt, ast. personally if i were to start treatment tomorrow i would add it. i wonder if it will be used off-label along with telaprivir, after it is approved
